Still 6 days.
It's still Sunday, 6 days before my 17th birthday. I really want to get claimed. But then, I really don't. I hear a knock on the door, and get up from the bed, after putting a bookmark in the Major and Minor Greek Gods and Goddesses book. "It's Hazel," I hear, and open the door. "Hi," I smile. She half-smiles. "Umm... You might want to know this."
Uh-oh.
"Yeah..."
I beckon Hazel in. She comes in and sways on her feet nervously. Her chocolate-caramel hair is down and crazy, and she has a strange, purple shirt on that reads: SPQR. What the what does SPQR mean? Silly Pickles Quickly Run? Steven Peter Quincey Ryan? Stupid Pigs are the Queen's favorites...and so are Ravens?
Snow Picks up speed Quickly in Red?
Spiders Poke Quinn when she Runs?
(Author's note: How the heck do I think of these things?)
Whatever, I'll find out later.
She's wearing light-wash blue jeans, without holes in them at all. For shoes she's wearing dark grey boots... And man, my ADHD is terrible.
She was talking to me. "But please don't tell anyone else I told you this. I was so nervous... And... I kept wondering if I should tell you or not, I mean it's kind of had to tell this kind of thing to someone who just figured out they were part god, but it was hard keeping this from you. I mean, we're close, Addie. And because of that, I couldn't help it, I had to tell you. Sure, we all said we wouldn't say anything... But, I just had to. I'm surprised Annabeth and Piper haven't cracked. Aren't you? With a secret that is so big like this, anyone in my situation would have told you. So... Now you know. I've got it over with. Oh, I shouldn't have told you! What is wrong with me?!" I was trying to talk like, 7 times but she kept on rambling, so I couldn't.
"Umm, what?"
"Did you... Did you not hear me?"
I shake my head. "My ADHD is terrible."
A look of complete relief shows on her face. "Good. Good." I frown. "But what secret that's so big anyone in your position would have told me?" She shakes her head with wide eyes. "I... I'm sorry. I just.. I can't tell you. But, when you do find out, just remember I tried to tell you. It'll probably happen before you can find out..." Hazel whispers the last part, clearly at least a bit regretful. She opens the door.
"Oh," she turns back around, "and please, do me a favor and don't tell anyone else that I pretty much told you this? They will hate my forever and ever and... Well, you get it." Hazel looks in my eyes. "Please, Addie. I'll be in debt."
"Yeah. I won't tell anyone."
"Oh thank you so much." Relief flooded through her. Anyone could see that. I nod and give a slight smile, "'Welcome."
Of course I won't tell anyone. But I still would like to figure out what the secret is. It's really a shame that I didn't hear her. Then I wouldn't have this feeling. This feeling that I have to figure out what the secret is before whatever it is happens. It would've been a good 'heads-up!', but I could never be truly angry at Hazel. It seems as if nobody can. What am I truly capable of? They, seven powerful sons and daughters of stinking GODS, need ME, some random awkward girl living in the middle of nowhere-not to mention, with no talents what-so-ever... Oh! And did I mention there's some important secret about me too?
"I'm surprised Annabeth and Piper haven't cracked. Aren't you? With a secret that is so big like this, anyone in my situation would have told you," she had said. What in the world is that secret?? Most likely, I won't be having much of a good sleep tonight.
