Have you ever heard of desire?
Have you ever experienced it?
I sure have.
It is the most amazing but dangerous emotion.
My desire, at the time, was to become an investigator. You know, the ones who solve crimes and such. I guess you could call it a "dream".
I never knew my dream would come to me so suddenly.

Its the 1st October, 2018. The news is broadcasting a mild threat to the UK. My mother is cooking pancakes in the kitchen. I'd say the pancakes are the worst threat to appear.
I'm sitting with my legs crossed, closely paying attention to the TV, looking for any clues as to what the threat is. Oh wait, he just said it.

"Talia! Pancakes are ready!"
My mother came rushing in, hands carrying a white tray - on top, the worlds most horrible pancake.
I gagged at the smell.
She placed the tray on my lap, then stood up and faced the TV.
"Wow. Four American test subjects escaped? Their last sighting was in the UK? I don't like the sound of that."

My police side took over, so suddenly.

"But the way they are traveling...how they crossed the an ocean in one night...And no boat either...It just doesn't make sense"

"PCCH! Future Police Woman, Has Entered The Building!" She cuffed her hands over her mouth jokingly.

I giggled, quite annoyed that she took the piss out of my dream.

"I know its your 16th birthday soon but that doesn't give you the privilege to not eat my famous pancake. Eat!"

She walked back into the kitchen. I was about to take a bite out of my...horrible...p...pancake... When suddenly a loud explosion sounded, that shook the floor. I sprinted outside, questioning where the sound came from.

Screams of people filled the streets.

The ruins of a nearby store were thrown everywhere. It looked like a bomb had gone off in there!

Everyone gathered around the ruins, as the grey smoke filled the streets.
I waited until the smoke had cleared.

A Figure.

A Boy - Around 17 - stood there, right arm outstretched towards what looked like a shelf.
He turned to face the audience waiting for him.
I must've had a heart attack for a split second...
He placed his eyes on me. Me.

His face was full of awe, but suddenly his eyes widened into shock. His hair was a dirty blondish colour, and he was wearing a blue hoodie and black jeans.
He turned and ran.
I wanted to run.
I wanted to run after him...but I didn't have the courage too.

I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Miss Moore"

I jolted awake, my forehead red from the pressure of my folded arms.

"You will never be a Police Woman if you don't pay attention in my class! Listen, stupid girl"

Was all of that a dream...? But it felt so real...

"I'm sorry Miss Clarke! I shall pay attention! I didn't get much sleep last night."
Stupid? No wonder she's not married. Even I wouldn't marry a dumb ass like her.

She made her way to the door, and opened it. "It seems the new students are here."

I could hear faint voices outside the door, maybe 2 or 3...are they... Arguing?

Four people walked in.

It was...
Him.
