Driving by Ivy's house, only Niko climbed into my truck, taking all the room in the passenger side.
"Where's Ivy?"
"She doesn't feel well. It's just us two today."
"Good, now I can finally plot the murder I've been meaning to get to."
He let out a nervously hollowed laugh. "As long as you involve the cliche mommy issues."
"I'm already there then."
Despite my first fears of awkward silence, Niko filled the void easily.
"So, how are you doing with being here?"
"It's been good, I think I'm adjusting to being a teenage vampire." I laughed as we pulled into the school parking lot.

We got out lazily and I felt the hairs on my neck stand up.
"Niko!" I heard a familiar voice behind me.
Danielle.
"Umm, hey." He said, walking towards us.
"I was thinking, why don't you join our table at lunch today, I wanna know all about you." She gave me a side glance of hatred, while batting her eyelashes.

A grimace spread across his face. "Danielle, I'm gay. And I won't like you in the way you like me. I'm sorry."
Her mouth dropped open, unable to comprehend why he won't be her new boy toy. She huffed and walked furiously to the end of the parking lot.
"You're gay?" I asked.
He simply nodded. "Are you coming, Scalawag?" He asked mockingly.

He's gay guys!
