It all happened too fast. I was in 4th period biology with Mr. G, minding my own business, and the next thing you know, all of our lives are put in more danger than we could ever imagine. Here's how it happened...

"So, class, are there any questions regarding tomorrow's test?"

We all monotonously reply with a "no" before he goes on talking again. I zone out for a moment and think about random things that cross my mind: Amber's upcoming 16th birthday party, me and Peyton's prom plans, and a bunch of other random stuff. I'm abruptly brought back to reality when my best friend, Alyssa, lets out a bloodcurdling scream. I jump in my seat and I'm just as confused as everyone else as to why she screamed when we see it walk into the science lab - a real-life undead zombie. We all start to yell, scream, and scramble out of our seats and go over to the furthest corner in the room. Mr. G rushes to open his cabinet, grabs a fairly big knife (God only knows why he has a knife), and stabs the zombie in the head. It immediately falls to the ground and doesn't get back up. Suddenly, the principal's voice comes over the loudspeaker, yelling "EVACUATE THE SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY. I REPEAT: EVACUATE THE-" His voice gets cut off mid-sentence and I realize one must have gotten him.

Fear starts building up inside me. It takes a minute of absolute silence for this whole thing to sink in, but when it does, everyone is yelling and pushing each other to get out the door. It's total chaos in the halls as everyone is trying to get out at once, still on alert for any more that may have gotten into the school. As I'm running through the halls, I try to make up a game plan in my head of where I will go first. First, go home and fill one of dad's old camping backpacks with clothes, food, and other supplies. Then, drive somewhere safe. Just as I'm about to go down the steps and out the front door, I realize Amber is probably still in there, scared to death. But, she might've been smart enough to get the hell out of there. It was a risky decision; probably the first of many I'll have to make. I have a split-second internal debate about it, then bolt back through the halls and go to the library- the place where we agreed to meet if either of us were feeling down.

As I'm running to the library, I realize that even though I didn't believe a zombie apocolypse was logical or possible, one is happening right now. This is the beginning of the end.
