I'm almost at the library when I (literally) run into my boyfriend, Peyton.
"Peyton!" I tightly hug him and he does the same to me.
"Rosalie," he whispers in my ear, "I thought you would've been gone by now."
"And I thought the same about you." I look right into his deep blue eyes, go on my tiptoes, and kiss him. "But now," I tell him, "I need to find Amber."
He nods and we run into the library, hand in hand. Sure enough, I find her huddled in the corner. She's hugging her knees to her chest. Poor Amber. She gets scared very easily.
"Amber!" I scream and run over to her. "We have to go. Now." I try to move her but she doesn't come. I look over at Peyton and with my eyes, I ask him to carry her. He must get the message, because he does.
The three of us then rush out of the school, along with the last few students and faculty who are still coming out. We rush to Peyton's car, he gets in the driver's seat, with Amber and me in the back, and he starts to drive. Amber snaps out of her trance on the ride there, because she starts to panic in the car.
"Peyton, go to my house. If we have time we'll go to yours." He nods and speeds through the empty streets, with the occasional zombie. I guess people really got a move on and fled. It's very odd to see the town this empty. It's usually bustling with activity everywhere you turn.
We reach my house and just as Peyton parks in front of my house, I get out of the car and Amber quickly follows behind me. I open the front door and go upstairs into my room, and Amber goes into hers. I then hear Peyton come in and up to my room. While I'm going through my closet and picking out clothes, he opens the drawer in my dresser that has some of his clothes for when he stays over.
We both make neat piles of clothes on my floor when I go down to get two of dad's huge old camping backpacks. As I'm coming out of my room, I run into Amber, who has a worried look on her face.
"Rose," she quietly says, "we have to hurry up. Look at the creek." I go back into my room and look out my window which shows me the backyard, then a fence that seperates our yard from the creek. Back by the creek, I see at least six zombies slowly but surely making their way to the house. I gasp and go into overtime. Amber comes into my room and puts a pile of her clothes on the floor next to me and Peyton's.
"Peyton, go downstairs in the pantry and grab as much non-perishible food and water as you can. I'll get the backpacks then we can fill them up with our supplies and go. Amber, get first aid supplies from the bathroom. Now go!" We all run to where we're supposed to go, and we grab the things we need.
I go into the basement and shovel through everything to look for the backpacks. I finally find them, and I decide it'd be good to grab sleeping bags and a tent or two also. Altogether, I found 3 backpacks, 3 sleeping bags, and one big camping tent. I shove everything in my arms and go back upstairs, practically dropping everything on the floor as soon as I reach the top step. Then I scramble up to my room with 2 of the backpacks and start putting me, Peyton, and Amber's clothes into one. Amber comes into my room and I tell her to put the medical supplies into the backpack with the clothes, then go get a sleeping bag and put that in there too.
She goes down to get a sleeping bag, and I take the empty backpack into my older brother Evan's room, get some of his clothes, and put them in. I quickly glance at my outfit and I'm thankful to have worn it to school today: my army green long sleeve shirt with dark jeans and black combat boots. To top it off, I have my black leather jacket downstairs.
"Rose!" I hear Peyton call from downstairs, "Do I use this empty backpack for the food?"
"Yes!" I shout back at him just as I remember something I should get from my room.
I dash back into my room and (as silly as this sounds) I grab the condoms I kept in my nightstand, which I put in the little zipper pocket in the backpack. Hey, you never know! Then I check the medicine cabinet in the bathroom just in case Amber didn't pack everything and, sure enough, there was still a bottle of Advil and some prescription medications still in there. She tends to forget things when she's in a hurry. I grab the contents left in the cabinet and throw them in the backpack. I run downstairs to find Amber and Peyton finishing off closing up the backpacks.
"Rose? How are we supposed to carry all this?" Peyton sounded worried. Altogether, there were the 3 full backpacks, 2 loose sleeping bags, 2 cases of water, and the tent.
"We're not. We're going to use dad's truck and put the stuff in the back. Now let's do that." They rush out through the garage, and I hear them open the garage door.
I quickly go back down into the basement and grab a tarp and some heavy duty bungee chords. In a time of emergency like this, it pays to have a dad who has all this stuff. I go out and help them put the tarp and bungee chords over the back of the truck. I glance in the backyard and see that the zombies are right at the fence, trying to get it open. We finish securing the tarp just as I remember to get dad's guns and ammo and hunting knives. I curse under my breath.
"Get in the truck. I'll be right back."
They look hesitant but I give them an assuring smile and nod. I bolt through the door and go into the basement once more and grab the guns, ammo, and hunting knives. I also grab dad's crossbow and arrows for good measure. Just as I come back into the garage, I look out the window and see the zombies got through the gate. I gasp and fling open the passenger door of the truck. I carefully put the weapons in the backseat with Amber. I take a deep breath, look at Peyton, and he looks at me.
"Let's drive." I say. Then he pulls out of the driveway, just as the zombies reach the house. We know where our first stop is: to get Evan.

A/N: Alrighty :3 So you're probably like: Wait how are they so trained for something like this? Amber, Rosalie, & Evan's dad is a hunter, mechanic, and very handy guy. So he has all that shtuff in da basement. And he has trained the siblings for different types of emergencies. Kay? Kay.
So I already have a few ideas of stuff that's gonna happen in this story and I'm really excited to write it :D If you see any errors of grammar, spelling, etc. please let me know.
And comment or vote if you like the story so far! Even if you just say something simple like I like it. or This is a cool story so far! or Keep writing! It'll mean alot <3
