(Just so that everyone knows this is the same writing as Claire Leland we share the story)
Chapter One: Kyle
“Maria! Time to wake up you sleepyhead,” my mom yelled down the hallway as she was finishing up breakfast.
“Mom, why don’t you ever tell Jessica to wake up,” I half yelled from my bedroom?
“Because I’m already awake by the time you roll out of bed,” my sister Jessica said as she poked her head in my door. This was an everyday thing. My mom wakes up to make breakfast, Jessica wakes up after she smells food, and then I get woken up by my mom yelling down the hall for me.
We live in a cute little three bedroom house, its perfect for all of us. The kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, laundry room and the hallway is everything we could ever ask for.
“You two are going to be late for school,” my mom yelled at us.
“Mom, we’re fine. You’re the one who is going to be late for work,” Jessica laughed out.
“And mom? With the way you are, I don’t think we could ever be late,” I replied before eating some nice warm pancakes loaded with syrup.
“Oh, and Maria? You’re supposed to go into the office this morning and help out a new student.”
“I think it’s that new hot one Maria,” Jessica whispered as mom walked to the door!
“Shut up! No way? He’s a junior? I thought he was going to be a student teacher…” I looked away ashamed as I let out a little laugh.
“Ow! Ow! My sister and a hot boy someone make sure they get a picture!” Jessica’s voice was a little too loud.
“Wait, what’s going on with this boy and my baby girl!?” Mom came back into the kitchen.
“Nothing mom, Jessica is getting worked up because she thinks he’s cute…. Just like all of the other boys in her class,” I add in and dodge my sisters playful swing.
“Oh, okay. Just, be careful girls,” and with that mom walked out of the house with kind of a puzzled look on her face.
“Way to go! Now she’s going to have a bad day!” Jessica actually hit my arm that time.
“Hey!” I yelled back while rubbing my arm. “It’s not my fault! You brought it up you loud mouth!!”
“Don’t even start,” Jessica yelled back while pointing a finger at me. “Let’s just get this done so WE can have a good day at least!”
“It’s not my fault,” I whispered to myself as Jessica got her purse and walked out of the house to go to school, I stood on the kitchen for a bit then grabbed my backpack and started my walk to school
I’m just like every other straight A student in this school; except I have no boyfriend and I don’t sleep around. I don’t really care what my hair, face or clothes look like. I’ve got dark brown eyes and matching brown wavy hair that I keep up in a ponytail so it’s out of my face. I’ve never been in any trouble… for anything. My sister on the other hand is a big troublemaker, or a problem child as my mom likes to put it. Jessica, my sister, is the definition of the perfect girl for most straight guys. She has blond hair and bright big blue eyes with a facial structure that would make any plastic surgeon jealous. Her and my mom are a lot alike, my mom and I have only one thing in common, our hair. I don’t know anything about my dad. I’ve never even seen a picture of him; mom doesn’t like to talk about him. Jessica doesn’t know anything about him either; she was only a year old when he left. So, my mom raised us two girls by herself, considering Jessica is going to graduate from high school on time and I might graduate early; she did a really good job.
