(Y/N) and Liam walked down the hallways of Beacon Hills High hand-in-hand after lunch, laughing at how Liam had managed to sit in spilled chocolate milk at the tables out on the quad. Well, (Y/N) was laughing, Liam didn't find it funny.
"Come on, babe. You have to laugh at yourself every once in a while." (Y/N) said as she looked at her boyfriend with a smirk on her face.
Liam shook his head, "I look like I messed myself." He argued with a straight face.
(Y/N) tried to contain her laughter, "which is why we're stopping by the locker room so you can change into your gym shorts."
"It's on the other side of the school!" He exaggerated while gesturing in front of them.
"Well, don't draw attention to yourself, then you'll really be upset." She responded, still trying not to laugh. Liam just kept a grumpy look on his face. "Hey, it doesn't look that bad. If anything, it looks like you just sat in mud or something." She stepped back a little to take a look at her boyfriend's butt. "In fact, it still looks really good." She said with a grin and a wiggle of her eyebrows.
She noticed the blush that rose to his cheeks as he shook his head with a chuckle. "You're a mess."
(Y/N) shrugged her shoulders, "but I'm your mess." She responded and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Plus, I got you to laugh. So, mission accomplished." She finished with a satisfied grin.
As they rounded the corner, (Y/N)'s hand instantly dropped from Liam's. He looked down at their hands and then up at (Y/N). "What's wrong?" He asked and then followed her gaze to where she realized why she dropped his hand. Her brother Isaac had just come out of the locker room and was heading straight for them. Isaac wasn't a big fan of Liam, and they hadn't exactly told him that they were dating.
"Heyyy, little sister." Isaac said with a smile as he approached the pair. "Liam." He said with a curt nod towards the fellow beta. "Where are you two headed? Don't you have Lit next, (Y/N)? On the other side of the school?" He questioned.
(Y/N) sighed a little before explaining, "Liam sat in chocolate milk at lunch, and I just figured I'd walk him to the locker room before heading to class."
"Well, I think Liam's a big boy and can make it there on his own." Isaac stated, giving Liam a look before looking back at (Y/N).
"Isaac..." (Y/N) was about to get defensive, but Liam interrupted her.
"It's okay, (Y/N). He's right. You should get to class. I'll see you later." He said before giving her a gentle smile and heading into the locker room.
(Y/N) watched him leave and then glared at her older brother. "That was uncalled for, Isaac."
"I don't like you hanging out with him. He's a werewolf with IED. Not exactly a good combination." Isaac argued in his defense.
"Yeah well, you can't tell me who I can and can't hang out with." She argued.
"Come on, let's get you to class before we both say things we don't mean." Isaac offered as he put a hand on her shoulder and turned her around.
(Y/N) shrugged him off, "No thanks. I'm a big girl and can find my own way." She said before storming off towards her next class, leaving Isaac standing there frustrated with how that went. As she walked down the hall, she pulled out her phone and texted Liam.
(Y/N): Sorry about that. Sometimes my brother is an ass. :/
Minutes later, she got a response back.
Liam: No worries. Are you ever going to tell him though?
(Y/N): I've thought about it... a lot. I just don't think now is the right time. He doesn't even like me hanging out with you, much less dating you. L
Liam: L I just think it'd be better for him to hear it from you rather than finding out some other way...
(Y/N): You're right...
She hit send then put her phone away as she sat down in her seat in class with a sigh. She needed to think of a way to tell her brother about Liam before he found out from someone else. The only problem was, she had no idea how to tell him when he clearly doesn't like Liam.

(Y/N) tapped her pen on the desk in front of her as millions of thoughts ran through her mind. She just couldn't think of a scenario where telling Isaac about Liam would turn out okay. Every scenario she thought of ended badly, and it made her incredibly anxious. She wanted nothing more than to be honest with her brother, like she always has been, but she didn't want anyone getting hurt in the process.
She had always been incredibly close with her older brother. It had a lot to do with their childhood. When their mom died when she was only eight and Isaac was ten, it brought them closer together. They healed together. Then, when their father started becoming abusive and taking his anger out on them, they stood strong beside each other. They cried together, opened up to one another, and bared the pain together. And when Isaac became a werewolf, (Y/N) was the first one he went to and told. When their dad was killed, they didn't really have anywhere to go, but Derek took them both in. It was rough, and (Y/N) didn't understand most of it, but Isaac assured her things would be okay. It wasn't until they got on Scott's side that either of them really believed that.
Through all of this, Isaac and (Y/N)'s relationship strengthened. She relied on him and he relied on her. In their eyes, they only had each other. While they still have their trust issues with others, they both managed to find solace and friendship in Scott's pack, Isaac even finding love in Allison for a short time. And now, (Y/N) has found that with Liam, but she couldn't tell the one person she told absolutely everything to.
(Y/N) was so lost in her thoughts that she barely noticed the doors to the loft slide open. When Derek left, he told her and Isaac that they could stay there as long as they needed to since they didn't really have anywhere else to go besides Scott's, but it was cramped there. (Y/N) turned around in her chair and saw her brother walking in, but something was wrong. She could feel it.
"How's it going?" He asked with an indifferent tone and look on his face. She couldn't read him like she usually could, and that worried her.
"Okay... just trying to get some homework done. How about you?" She asked, hoping he would open up.
Isaac shrugged as he tossed his jacket over the back of the couch. "I've had better days." He responded in short, not giving her much to go on.
"What happened?" She questioned.
Isaac slowly made his way over to the desk she was sitting at, looked at her for a minute, and then placed his phone face up on the table. "Care to explain this?" He asked, pointing at his phone.
(Y/N) felt her heart stop for a minute, and she was sure that he heard it. She looked down at his phone and her breath hitched at the picture staring back at her. There, in plain color, was her and Liam wrapped in a tight embrace between the busses, his lips pressed to hers. "Wh...where did you get this?"
"I took it myself when I was looking for you after school because we had made plans to walk home together." He responded sharply.
She was silent for a moment, not sure what to say. Panic was starting to rise in her chest. "Isaac, I..." She started to explain but he interrupted her.
"How long?" His harsh tone making her wince a little.
"Six months." She replied just above a whisper as she looked down at her fiddling hands.
"Six months?!" He exclaimed, and she winced again at the resemblance of her father's voice. "You've been sneaking around with him for six months?!"
(Y/N) finally looked up at her brother and saw a mixture of anger, hurt, and frustration in his eyes. "I wanted to tell you. I just didn't know how. I knew you'd be upset and I didn't want that." She tried to explain.
"Well then, you shouldn't have started dating him in the first place." He said sternly.
"You can't tell me who I can and cannot date, Isaac! What's your problem with him anyways?" She was trying not to raise her voice, but she was starting to lose her patience with him.
"What do you think my problem with him is? He's a werewolf with IED! One day you two are going to get into a fight and there's no telling what could happen to you." He argued, flailing his arms in the air.
(Y/N) sighed in annoyance as she stood up from the chair, "and you're a werewolf with anger issues too, but you don't see me disowning you as a brother, do you?" She fired back.
This silenced Isaac for a minute. "That's different. You know I'd never lose it on you."
She shook her head, "no, I don't actually. You've nearly lost it on me a few times. So don't act like you're all high and mighty and have control over your emotions because you don't. None of you do." Now she was the one with the stern and harsh voice. "I'm not some little girl who doesn't know what they're doing, Isaac. I've been around all of this for as long as you have. I may not have it all figured out, and neither do you, but I know how to take care of myself. Now, if you can't accept the fact that I'm going to be with Liam, then maybe you can't accept me anymore." She finished and her grey, blue eyes finally met his ice blue ones for the first time since he walked through the door.
Isaac stood there stoically, his hands placed on his hips, not saying a word. They just stared at each other for what seemed like forever, trying to read what the other was thinking. Finally, with a sigh, (Y/N) shook her head as she gathered her bag and keys. "Guess I have my answer." She said as she walked out the door, secretly wishing that her brother would yell after her to stay. But he never did, and she swore she felt her heart break.
***
Two weeks had passed and (Y/N) and Isaac hadn't said a single word to each other. They'd pass each other in the halls, give the other a small glance, and then quickly look away with sad looks on their faces. She'd avoided pack meetings, not that she was really needed at them, and everyone else walked on eggshells to avoid talking about it. They knew what happened, but didn't press the siblings to work it out, feeling that it'd be best for them to do it on their own.
The separation was taking a toll on both of them, and everyone saw it. They both smiled less and were distant with everyone. They lost focus easily and their grades slipped a little. They hardly ate or slept and were even starting to get snappy with others. And yet they were both too stubborn to do anything about their problems.
"I think you should talk to him." Liam suddenly said as he reached across the table in the quad to hold her hand.
She was sitting across from him lost in her thoughts as she stared into the distance where Isaac stood talking to Scott and Stiles. Every time he would look in her direction, she would look the other way in hopes that he didn't see her staring. "I will when he apologizes for being a jackass."
Liam sighed, wishing his girlfriend would be the bigger person.

Across the quad, Isaac stood talking to Scott and Stiles, but he wasn't really paying attention. He kept stealing glances towards his sister and her boyfriend. He didn't miss the way that Liam reached for her hand gently. It garnered Isaac's attention enough to listen in on what was being said, but after (Y/N) called him a jackass, he tuned them out.
"Dude, you just need to apologize already." Stiles said and it snapped Isaac out of his thoughts.
"He's right. You've seen them the last two weeks. Watched how Liam is with her. They're good together. I really don't think he would ever intentionally hurt her." Scott furthered Stiles' suggestion.
"Maybe not intentionally..." Isaac tried to argue, but he was interrupted by Scott.
"Just like you, me, or any of us wouldn't intentionally hurt her or anyone we love. You're right. He could lose control and accidentally hurt her, but so could any of us. It's one of the prices to pay that comes along with being what we are." Scott explained to his friend.
Isaac looked away for a second, back to (Y/N) and Liam. "Now you sound like her."
"Because they're both right. She's your sister, man. You can't lose her over something like this, and that's exactly what will happen if you don't get your head out of your ass and apologize." Stiles advised and Scott shook his head at his best friend's choice of words.
He nodded in agreement nonetheless, though. "No matter how much you may want to, you can't control this, Isaac. She's going to see whoever she wants." Scott paused for a minute. "The good thing, though, is that she can take care of herself, and if anything does happen, she has you and all of us to stand by her side."
With that, the two friends just walked off, leaving Isaac to contemplate what to do. If he was being honest with himself, he knew exactly what he should and wanted to do because they were right. He had witnessed how careful and loving Liam was with (Y/N) over the last two weeks. He couldn't deny them that fact. He just didn't know if he could accept the fact that his little sister was falling further and further into this supernatural world... or that she had seemed to grow up in the blink of an eye.

Isaac texted (Y/N) earlier in the day asking if she would meet him at the loft after school so they could talk. She never replied, but she read the message. So now he was left sitting there on the couch, tapping his foot, as he impatiently hoped that she would walk through the doors.
He waited for what seemed like forever, and was about to give up when the doors slid open. She stood in the doorway for a minute just looking at him, let out a deep breath as she ran her fingers through her long sandy, blonde hair, and walked in. "Hey." Was all she said as she sat on the couch opposite to him, her hair falling in her face a little.
"Hey, uh... thanks for coming. For a minute there, I didn't think you'd show since you never replied back to my text." He stated.
"I almost didn't." She confessed, which he surprisingly wasn't all that shocked about. He could sense that she was still mad at him, not just from her scent, but her tone too.
There was silence for a minute as he thought carefully about what he wanted and needed to say. "Listen," he finally started, "I was an ass." He admitted, to which she made a face that said he was stating the obvious. He scratched his brow before continuing, "And I'm really sorry. I have..." he took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "I have no say in who you hang out with or who you date, and I shouldn't have tried to control that part of your life..."
(Y/N) interrupted him, "you can't control any part of my life."
"I know that, but you're going to have to give me the benefit of the doubt or something here because I'm your big brother, and I'm always going to want to protect you. I didn't want you to get sucked further into all of this supernatural stuff. I want you to be able to be as normal as possible, (Y/N)." He tried to explain.
"Isaac, all of this supernatural stuff is always going to be part of my world now because you are part of my world. Literally everyone I care about is part of that world. There's really no escaping it even if I wanted to." She contended, and Isaac nodded in understanding. "But I get where you're coming from, and I love you for wanting to protect me as much as possible, but you also have to trust that I can take care of myself too."
Isaac nodded again, "I know, and I do. It's just hard to accept that you're not still this little girl who needs protection from anything and everything."
(Y/N) stood up and walked over to where he was sitting before sitting right next to him. She put her arm around him. "How about we make a deal, I date whomever I want, and you can intimidate them with this long, big brother talk, and if they hurt me, you can... kick them in the face." She compromised with a small laugh at the end, which got him to laugh too.
"I think you got a deal, little sister." He responded as he wrapped an arm behind her.
They leaned back on the couch, "good." She said with a smile, happy to be back on good terms with her brother after what was their worst fight ever. "Now, let's make another promise."
"Whatcha got?"
"We never get into another fight like that again. Going that long without talking to you nearly killed me." (Y/N) suggested before holding out her pinky.
Isaac nodded in agreement, "dude, same here. No more fights period." He said before linking his pinky with hers. "Now, get that boyfriend of yours over here so I can give him that long, intimidating big brother talk." He requested with a grin forming on his lips.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes with a laugh, "Oh, God." But pulled out her phone nonetheless and texted her boyfriend.
