(Y/N) sat in front of her window and stared out as the rain poured down. She followed each raindrop as it made a path down the glass, distracting her from the commotion going on downstairs. Her parents arguing had been happening more and more recently, each one getting a little louder than the last. It was always over petty things, like her father not being home enough or her mother's spending habits. No matter what they tell you, being a rich kid isn't all it's cracked up to be. Although this time, the arguing seemed to revolve around cheating.
"No wonder you're never home! I guess screwing your secretary is more important than your family!" Her mother yelled.
"Well, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black! You're the one who slept around with your supposedly best friend's husband!" Her father fired back.
Ouch. No wonder Ms. Martin never came around anymore... not to mention the divorce she went through. (Y/N) thought as the yelling echoed up the hallway and into her room. She closed her eyes with a sigh and rested her head against the window pane as she heard glass shatter, undoubtedly from her mom. Why can't you just get a divorce like them. Put everyone out of their misery.
"Well if you're so unhappy, then why don't you just leave?!" Her mother practically demanded.
"Why should I be the one to leave?! I paid for this dream house of yours!" Her father argued.
(Y/N) decided she'd had enough. She couldn't take it anymore. She slipped on her rain boots and coat, grabbed her purse and keys, and headed down the stairs. Making her way through the kitchen and to the garage, her parents didn't even notice her walk right past them as they continued their argument.
She slammed her car door as she heard yet another glass break. Taking a deep breath and slowly blowing it out, she tried to start her car, but got nothing. "What the hell?" (Y/N) asked the empty car. She turned the key again, and it still didn't start, but she realized the gas gage was on E. "Are you kidding me?!" She yelled, frustrated. She could have sworn that she had almost a full tank when she got home from school yesterday. Apparently one of her oh so responsible parents took her car and didn't fill it back up.
She sighed in frustration as she hit hear head on the headrest. After calming herself, she looked for a spare umbrella but came up empty. So she gathered her things, got out of the car, and headed for the side door that led to the driveway. She pulled up her hood and prepared herself for the rain. There was no way she could stay there another minute. So she began walking to the one place she knew she was always welcome.
Liam's House.
Half an hour later (Y/N) was knocking on the familiar red door, drenched from head to toe. Her teeth were chattering from freezing, her nose as red as Rudolf's, and no one would notice but her cheeks were stained from tears. All she wanted was for her boyfriend to hold her and tell her it was all going to be okay. She just wanted to forget about her parents for a while.
Liam pulled the door open with a smile, expecting to see his happy-go-lucky girlfriend, but instead he was met with the broken girl in front of him. "(Y/N), what's wrong?" He looked to the driveway to find that her car wasn't there. "Where's your car? Did you walk here?" He questioned worriedly as he ushered her inside, away from the cold and wet air.
They stopped in the foyer, her sopping clothes and shoes forming a puddle around her feet on the hardwood. She sniffled before answering, "I just had to get out of there. My car wouldn't start so I walked."
Liam looked at her with shock written all over his face. "Why didn't you call me? I would have come and got you. You're probably going to catch pneumonia from walking three miles out in that mess." She was still shivering, and Liam mentally smacked himself in the head for not getting her some towels sooner. "Come on, let's get you warmed up." He said and guided her to his room. "Let me go grab you some towels. You can get some clothes out of my drawers if you want, and I'll throw your clothes in the wash." He said while stepping into his bathroom to grab a few towels and handed them to her, which she gladly accepted. "I'll leave you alone so you can change. Are you hungry? I'll go fix you up some lunch." He offered, and (Y/N) simply nodded with a sad look still on her face.
He looked at her for a second and realized something was really wrong, but she didn't want to talk about it right now. So he did the only thing he knew he could, he placed his hands on her shoulders and looked right into her sad green eyes. "Hey, it's all going to be okay, I promise." He assured her, and she gave him a sad smile. "I'll be right back." He said before placing a kiss on her forehead and walking out of the room, closing the door behind him. (Y/N) sighed before discarding her wet clothes and wrapping herself and her hair up in towels before rummaging through Liam's dresser for some warm clothes.
Ten minutes later, Liam heard her coming down the steps and around the hall into the kitchen. "Hey, it'll be like ten more minutes maybe. Sorry it's taking so long." He said as he stirred the spaghetti sauce into the hamburger meat.
"It's fine." (Y/N) responded, her voice a little hoarse, as she walked up and stood beside him. "What are you fixing?" She asked out of curiosity before she saw the meat sauce and noodles in a separate pot about to come to a boil. "Yum. I love spaghetti." She stated, a slight smile coming to her face, but not really reaching her eyes.
Liam turned to face her, "I know. That's why I'm making it." He responded with a smile before giving her a quick kiss on the lips. He looked down and observed her chosen attire, his lacrosse hoodie and... boxers? "Um... (Y/N), why are you wearing my boxers? Not that I mind or anything, I mean they look better on you than they do on me. I just figured you would choose some sweatpants or something to stay warm?" He asked with raised eyebrows, his hands on her hips.
(Y/N) shrugged her shoulders, "I couldn't find any sweatpants. There wasn't any in your dresser."
Liam was a little confused, he could have sworn he had done his laundry... or his mom had at least. Then it hit him, "Oh! They're in the dryer. Hang on, I'll get you a pair." He explained before giving her another kiss on her forehead and headed in the direction of the laundry room. A minute later and he was back with a pair of grey sweatpants. "Here you go. All nice and toasty too." He said as he handed them to her.
She offered him another sad smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Thanks." She said as she slipped the pants on over the boxers. "I left my clothes up in your tub so they wouldn't soak your floor. I'll go get them and put them in the wash."
"Nonsense, I'll get them. You just curl up on the couch and relax, okay?" He offered as he ran his hands up and down her arms. She just nodded up at him, her big green eyes looking like she just lost her best friend. "Hey, you want to tell me what's going on? You look like a lost puppy, and it's killing me to see you so sad."
(Y/N) shook her head, "I just couldn't be in that house for another minute. I couldn't listen to them argue anymore." She answered, keeping her head down and fiddling with the hoodie string.
"Your parents? It's gotten that bad?" He questioned with curious eyes to which (Y/N) nodded.
"Yeah, things are getting thrown. Apparently there's cheating involved." She responded sadly.
Liam sympathized with her, "man, I'm sorry, (Y/N)." He said and she just gave another sad smile. He pulled her into a hug to try to comfort her, "well, you know you are always welcome to stay here. I'm sure my parents would understand."
"Thanks." She muffled into his chest as she wrapped her arms around him a little tighter. "Can we just cuddle and watch movies for the rest of the day after we eat?" She asked, her voice sounding small and broken.
"Of course." He answered as he rubbed his hands up and down her back. "Speaking of food, I should probably get back to fixing it." He said as he noticed the sizzling sauce and bubbling noodles on the stove. She nodded and they both pulled out of the embrace. "Go get comfy on the couch and I'll bring you a plate." He offered with a smile as he drained the noodles.
(Y/N) nodded and headed to the couch in the living room. She grabbed a blanket and the remote and plopped down as she turned on the television. A few minutes later, Liam was walking into the room with a plate of spaghetti and a glass of iced tea. She smiled up at him as he sat it down in front of her on the coffee table. "Thanks, babe."
"Anytime." Liam responded before leaning down to give her a quick kiss on the lips before disappearing into the kitchen to get his own food. He walked back in a few minutes later and sat his plate and drink down on the coffee table. "Okay, what movie should we watch first?" He asked as he walked over to the shelf of movies.
"Hmmm... How about Nemo? Take me back to my childhood when it was simpler times." (Y/N) suggested.
Liam looked back at her and offered an empathetic smile. "Nemo it is." He said as he turned back around and pulled the movie from the self.
"God, your cooking is almost as good as your kisses." (Y/N) suddenly said with a mouthful of spaghetti.
Liam turned around from setting up the DVD and couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his mouth at the sight of her slurping up a noodle and sauce splattering all over her face. "Well, at least I know my competition now." He said with another chuckle. "You got a little something..." He finished with a smirk as he pointed to the sauce on her face.
(Y/N) smirked back, "I'm saving it for later." She responded and stuck her tongue out at him after she swallowed her food.
Liam sat down on the couch next to her and laughed before sticking his tongue out back at her. He eyed her for a second longer while she continued eating and then slowly reached his hand up to her face and wiped off the sauce with his thumb before licking it off. (Y/N) just stared at him with a raised eyebrow. "You're right. My cooking is almost as good as your kisses." He stated with a smirk, emphasizing the word 'your.'
(Y/N) was left a little surprised. She wasn't expecting that. She sat her plate back down on the coffee table, reached her hands out to cup his face, and pulled him in for a deep kiss. They both felt it down to their toes, and didn't pull apart until air became necessary. "Wow." They both whispered as they rested their foreheads against each other.
"What was that for?" Liam whispered, his blue eyes opening to see her green ones.
She shrugged her shoulders a little, "just for being you." She answered with a smile. "Thanks for making the rest of the day better than the crummy morning I had." She finished and gave him another quick peck on the lips.
"I'm always going to be here for you, no matter what, (Y/N)." Liam responded honestly before leaning up to give her a kiss on the forehead.

Two hours later, the lights were out and the movie credits were rolling. Liam and (Y/N) sat cuddled up on the couch fast asleep. He had his legs stretched out on the coffee table and his arm draped over her shoulders. Her legs were curled up on the couch as her head rested on his chest.
Liam stirred a little and his eyes opened slightly. He surveyed his surroundings and smiled once his eyes landed on her sleeping peacefully in his arms. He grabbed the remote control and turned off the television before kissing the top of her head once more. He closed his eyes to go back to sleep, knowing that as long as she was in his arms, he would be happy... no matter what.
