When I woke up, I was in what was like a dungeon. At least, that's what I thought it was. I painfully sat up and looked up as someone started speaking to me. “Well, it is good to see you finally awake, Clarah.” I screamed as I realized it was the demon speaking. “You can scream all you want, but no one who would come rescue you can hear you.” I cried as I realized that it was right. No one who cared could hear me. “You know, you could just give up. It would make this easier on everyone.” I glared at it.

“Never. It would make it easier on you. Not everyone else.” It shook it's head.

“You are so blind. You really think I'm going to give up because you are trying to act tough? You are so wrong child.” It disappeared and I fell to the ground crying. I wanted so much to just curl up in a ball and die.

Don't think like that. Clarah, we are searching for you, and we will be there as fast as we can. Do you hear me?

Mom? Is that you?

Yes, honey, it's me. Are you alright? Have they hurt you? I assessed my body, to find a large and deep cut on my right wrist, and it was slowly oozing out blood. I turned on my hands and knees and threw up. Clarah? What's wrong? I can't see you, but have you been hit? Right wrist maybe?

No, cut. It wont stop bleeding. There is so much blood. I felt her fear and pain come at my mind in strong waves. They cut your wrist?! They should know better! That will kill you! I fell to my side as a huge wave of exhaustion hit me. I had trouble keeping my eyes open. Clarah, hold on. Hold on. We found you, and we will be there in a split second. There was a flash of light, then I felt someone lifting me off the ground.

“Clarah, hold on.” I looked up and saw Micheal staring down at me. I leaned into his shoulder and groaned softly. Next thing I know I open my eyes to a bunch of doctors and nurses rushing me down the hall. I saw Mom talking to an officer.

“Dont worry Sally, she will be fine. We have the building under lockdown. If he's still here, then we will get him. For now, worry about her and go. You might want to hold her hand while they stitch her up.” She nodded and ran into the room where the nurses took me. There was a doctor already there, and she began to stitch up my wound immediately. I flinched and cried, and Mom held my hand the entire time.

When the stitching was finished, the doctor gave the okay for me to be transferred to a room, which just so happened to be the one they had my mom in. Mom refused to let go of my hand and Micheal kept his distance, disappearing in the far corner of the room. “Clarah, how are you feeling?” I looked at Mom and I could see the worry and relief and fear mixing in her eyes.

“I feel groggy. Why did they cut my wrist? They knew it would kill me, and I thought the demon wanted me so it could possess me.” Mom shook her head and moved a strand of hair out of my face.

“I think that was their bargaining chip. If you didnt join them, you would die. We may have underestimated them. They are trying to destroy the balance, and you going to their said would damage the balance beyond repair.” I groaned as I tried to sit up, I could feel my wrist wanting to give out as I put pressure on it. Mom grabbed my shoulder and pushed me gently back down. “The doctor says you should lay down and rest. I agree with him, and I'm sure Micheal does too. Right, Micheal?” He looked over at us and nodded. I looked into his eyes and saw their normal sparks of light were gone.

“Micheal, are you alright? You seem upset.” He sighed and laughed hotly.

“I let my guard down with my feelings, and then you get kidnapped and get your wrist cut! Sorry if I seem upset, but its my fault that this all happened!! I shouldve seen this coming! But I didnt, and I put you both in danger!” I felt tears coming.

“Micheal, its not your fault. You cant shut off your feelings.” He shook his head.

“No Clarah, I can, and I will. I will never let my feelings for you get in the way of my judgement. Never let my feelings about anything get in my way! Sally, thank you for letting me stay with you, but I believe its time for me to move on.” He walked out and I tried to chase after him, but she held me back. I started sobbing.

“Micheal, dont leave me!” She wrapped me in her arms and held me tightly.
