Chapter 8

It's been a few weeks after the festival. I've been doing really well at school, and I also made many friends.
Jenny and her gang stopped bullying me, but that's just because Natsu and the others were surrounding my area, looking out for any bullies in my way.
My life has been almost fixed, but.. that doesn't mean my life is full with joy yet....
I was at home, doing my homework until a phone rang. I picked up my phone and answered the call, then I was shocked, why? Cause an accident happened to my closest aunt, who always loved me cared for me for all her life. What has she done wrong to deserve this?? Has my misfortune still cause these tragedies on me....?
I, of course, ran to the hospital to see my aunt, all bruised and streaming blood. She was taken to the surgery room while I was sitting, waiting, panicking the whole time.
The doctor walked out, with an expression that I can't tell.
"Doctor! Is my aunt alright?! Did she make it?!!" I desperately asked several questions about my aunt. But the doctor stood there, his expression began to show guilt and sorrow.
"Ms. Heartfilia, I am very sorry to inform you that your aunt.... Did not make it....." I collapsed on the floor from the shock.
"No...it can't be... She's still alive!! It can't be happening" I cried out desperately, standing up and running towards my aunt, but the doctors gripped my arms to prevent me.
I didn't care, I was moving furiously with rage and sadness, I kept crying and crying until everything went black.

I woke up with a headache. My eyes swiftly looked around, and there I was, in a hospital bed. I replayed the scene over and over, my aunt passed away.... It wasn't a dream at all....it actually happened.
I burst into tears. "Gomenasai...Gomenasai....Gomenasai...." I repeated the words over and over for the tragic of my aunt. I kept crying until I heard a burst opened the door. It was Natsu, anxiously worried.
Natsu ran up to me and hugged me tightly. "Lucy! What happened?! Are you ok...?" I'm glad he's caring, but... His words won't work on me in this situation.
I softy spoke with a smile, "yea I'm fine, thanks for worrying..."
"What happened? Why did you faint all the sudden? Something happen? Lucy you need to tell me..." Natsu, you know what I'm thinking don't ya?.....
"My....aunt just passed away..." I looked away to hold my tears from falling. I don't want him to see me cry again, worry me again, but I just can't handle the situation right. I'm sorry.. I can't be strong on this one, it just...hurts...
"Lucy... I'm sure your aunt doesn't want you to think that way. I know she just passed away, but...I'm sure she knows your struggles and wants your to stay happy. I'm sure that's the best you can do for her....." Natsu hugged me firmly with his words and tried to comfort me.
It'll take me a while to take it in...and I mean for a really really really long time...

It's been a while and I still can't get over from the death of my aunt. She was one of my important person in the family, and now she is gone from my life.
Later on, however, I realize my aunts message that she always tells me...
"My Dear sweet Lucy. Don't let anything bring you down. There are still obstacles that are interfering our path, but we have the ability to overcome them. So, Lucy, I wish for you to be strong and happy. Your happiness brings me joy to my life...."
My mother told me the same exact thing as my aunt. Be strong and Happy.... That was their wish for me. For me to enjoy my life and overcome my hardships.
Alright.... I'm not backing up anymore. I'll live my life the fullest, and make my wish and their wish to happen. Natsu and the others taught me this...
I have no luxury to give up now.

The next day, the band and I were practicing our new song for the assembly for our graduation. It was only few weeks away, but we started pretty early.
I picked up the mike and cued the band, we decided to sing two songs. I took a deep breathe and gave it my best shot.

After we finished, Natsu called my name. I walked up to him with a curious expression. "What is it Natsu??" I asked
"Lucy..could we..um..talk in private?" He scratched the back of his neck with a slight blush. I was pretty Dense on his expression so I didn't know anything.
We went outside his house and walked all the way to where the cherry blossoms are. I turned around to face him. "What do you want to talk about, Natsu?"
He took a deep breathe and looked up at the sky. "Lucy, it's been a really long time from where we hung out as friends..but now I see you differently. Your smile names my heart pound, your laugh brings joy to me... Lucy Heartfilia..." My heart was beating fast, do you think he's...
He turned to face me with a serious expression and said,
"I love you."
