Wars come and go but my bullets remain eternal - Virus

NEW YORK CITY,
EAST 51ST STREET,
MANHATTAN
1500HRS.
MARCH 21ST, 2016

The streets of the 7th Avenue were busy, traffic moving slowly. A car pulls up by the curb of the 2nd precinct, a man clothed in an army uniform steps out, his uniform is a different shade of medals, each acknowledging his bravery and dedication to his job, but with every good, there must be a bad.
        He steps out of the black car and is saluted by officers of a lower rank, he salutes them back, he smiles, he loves his job and its privileges.

      The man begins to ascend the stairs, the officers quickly surround him as a human shield, escorting him up the stairs, they'd rather take a bullet for him than let him die.

        He reaches the top of the stairs and stops to admire the magnificent edifice, a twenty-one storey building, made completely out of glass, dedicated to the police force. He enters the building and everyone in the lobby stands up and salutes him, he smiles and keeps on walking forward, the receptionist quickly walks ahead of him and presses the button to open the elevator.

        " Yes sir, he's here ", she says into her earpiece. She turns and smiles warmly at him. " Detective Smith will now see you lieutenant Shaw".

      " He better does, if not his ass is mine ", he replies jokingly. The ding of the elevator let's him know his lift is here. He enters the elevator and is accompanied by his escorts. He presses the button for the last floor, the roars of the crank and other mechanisms tells him that the elevator might soon break down.
      The view from the elevator is nice, completely being made out of glass, it allows him to take in the beautiful skyline of New York, the street of the 7th Avenue ever so busy, he turns to his escorts and notices how uneasy they are. He chuckles, then his head slumps back and the weight of his dead body pushes an officer to the floor. The stain of his blood on the wall of the elevator, his blood rapidly oozing out of his forehead. The men scream for help into their walkies.
          His dead.
========================

In a building about five blocks away, a mysterious woman packs up her rifle, dismantling everything in less than a minute. She exits the rooftop, quickly descending the stairs into the hallway, she stops to scrutinize her surrounding, the coast is clear, she makes her way to the elevator and presses the button to the lobby. She quickly tries to regain herself,the ding of the elevator tells her that she has arrived at the lobby, she gets out and quickly manoeuvres her way through the cluster of bodies in the lobby, finally she's out on the street.
The wailing of the sirens of police cars and ambulances are distant, all headed to the precinct to help the situation, good she thinks to herself, she puts on her glasses and smiles, she brings out her phone and makes a call, triggering the explosives she hid in the precinct, turning it into a paradise for the damned. She disposes of the phone in a nearby trash can, she turns and takes her leave.

This is just the beginning.
