I didn't really talk,
and she would just give me
That look.

That look you get when you're disrespectful,
that look you get when you know you did something wrong,
that look when you're being mean,
and downright rude.

But I can't help it,
it just doesn't make sense.
It's like being mute,
and deaf at the same time.
It's like being in a coma,
not being able to respond.

That little part of you,
that just knows you have to respond,
so you shrug.
You can't speak,
no other actions can describe what you're feeling.
You just don't know
what to do.

It doesn't make sense,
it's like you're lost in a family you call your own.
But then something devastating happens,
and you feel that part you just
sink.
You don't know what to feel,
scared?
Worried?
Regretful?
You know that the last time you saw her,
it was basic motions.
Maybe a hug,
said good-bye,
then left.

And in the end you know you should've tried
harder.

This honestly makes me extremely sad because I, a person that lives in the US, learned English as my first language. And people learn a second language, two, and maybe even three more. But when your parents don't actually teach you, or speak it at home, it's hard to catch on. It's heartbreaking to not be able to reply to your family. It's really horrible.
