BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The alarm buzzed; loudly. I groaned, slamming my hand down on the snooze button. Another excruciating day on this hell called Earth. I sat up, grabbing the closest thing to me and putting it on. I always slept next to my beanie; it hides one of my darkest secrets. Anyway, I threw that on in a hurry. My alarm might have gone off, but it was still Saturday morning in the middle of Autumn. Thanksgiving break, to be exact. That meant I get two weeks off from the constant shoves and insults I get at school.
I slowly began getting dressed, dismissing the idea of the shower. I don't have any plans, in case you're wondering. But I live four blocks away from the park, and I like the way the breeze flows through me as I walk those four blocks; forgetting about my day to day stress and suffering. Leaving a quick note to my step-brother - which I stuck to the fridge with a piece of tape - I jogged out of the house, down to the park. The sun hadn't yet fully risen, which made the walk...oddly captivating.
The leaves have up their resting place as they drifted down to the ground around me; the leaves that had already fallen crunching softly under what little weight I had. I looked to the left: across the street. There were a couple holding hands, walking the opposite direction of me. I guessed they had just come back from the park, whereas I was walking towards it. Alone. My mood took a sudden dive; my thoughts retreating to their eternal place in sadness. I skulked, hunching down as I shoved my hands back into my jean pockets.
The occasional car drove by me, and I huddled into my sweatshirt for extra warmth. I may like the breeze, but damn, could it get cold. I snuggled back into my sweatshirt. Since it was loose on me since the day my step brother bought it, I was able to actually sink into hit, hiding my extremely skinny figure from most of the public eye. Anyone who wasn't paying particularly close attention, at least. I could hear my teeth chattering as I took a left turn on the corner, passing the family owned convenience shop. Not my family, in case you're wondering. Just some people I know, who just so happen to be in the same family, own and operate the shop. I took the time to glance around my surroundings once more; catching a few children playing. At this hour? Strange, but not impossible. What time was it?
The thought occurred to me. The streets seemed unnaturally busy, for an early Saturday morning. That couple I saw earlier. My brother probably reset my alarm clock...or maybe I just set it to the wrong time. Who knows? Frankly, I don't care. It's just a harmless prank, through and through. But I was slightly annoyed; I do enjoy my privacy at the park. When it's early in the day, there aren't any kids screaming or any negligent mothers losing their children. The minor setback did nothing to deter me from going, but I do wish it could've been quieter when I got there.
Just as I suspected; kids were everywhere.
