Photo of Geoff.

I sat upon the large rock that marked the center of the park -- it gave a good view of the surroundings around me. and allowed me to stay out of the reach of children. They always asked me questions. One little kid asked, "Mistuh, how did you get up there?" I replied with a sly smile and the little boy said nothing more, dashing away at the egging on of  -- what I thought to be -- his older brother. I gazed up at the sun, shielding my eyes from it's blinding onslaught. The yellow rays pierced through the trees like daggers, stabbing the ground that which they were directed at. I sighed, having sat there for long enough, and hopped off.

Now, keep in mind, I am a very, very short person.  So doing this winded me a little as I hit the ground with a rough gasp, not expecting it to be so rough. It's usually softer, especially this time of year, so close to winter. I dusted off my shoulders, sighing. I'd have to wash them later, since my dead-beat brother won't do it. I was dusting off my jeans when a deep voice called from behind me.

"Hey, look, it's mousey!" The voice taunted. It didn't take me long to realize just who was at the park today.

I shrank away from Geoff, the school bully. I'm always his main target, since -- out of everyone in the entire school -- I'm the most vulnerable. "Hi, Geoff..." I muttered, my voice as quiet as a mouse. "Well, well, well." Geoff replied, poking me in the chest. "I was skeptical at first, what with all the little kids running around -- you look just like 'em! Ha!" He guffawed, laughing at his own joke. I looked down, my hands crossed behind my back. "Why're you here?" I questioned, a little surprised he was here and curious as to why.

"Is my pet mouse speaking? I can't hear him! Speak up!" He dared, sneering at me. I pressed on, my voice rising a decimal. "I asked why you were here." "The answer," He replied, "Is simple. My baby brother wanted to play -- so here I am." He answered, spreading out his arms to emphasize the point. "And it's also plain to see that there's some trash that needs to be picked up." He said, smiling coyly at me while I just took a small step back. Seeing he was already getting to me, he sneered a reply. "Yeah, that's it. Run, just like the mouse you are. Coward." He chuckled sinisterly while I quickly walked away, afraid. He was right -- on a more literal term than you might think.

I breathed a heavy sigh, just planning to take a shortcut through the forest, when I caught a rather human-shaped shadow behind me. I spun, and came face-to-face with Geoff once again. "Think you can get away?" He said while I, startled, fell to the ground. He laughed, one of those sinister laughs you see super villains do in TV shows or movies. He loomed over me, casting his shadow over my skinnier form. "What do you want with me?" I asked, timid. I was frozen in place.

"Well, for one, I want you gone. But that's not enough for me." Geoff chuckled, grabbing my arm and yanking me up on my feet. He pulled a little harder than he needed too. "Wow! I barely put any effort into that! You really ARE weak! Hahaha!" He laughed, his grip tightening as I struggled to break free. "What are you doing? Let me go!" I begged, trying to break free from his ironclad grip. "No, I don't think I will, not just yet." He teased, dragging me into the forest.
