Getting in the groove

Directly after lunch we had twenty minutes until our next class. Sasha was heading back to our dorm to change for dance so I decided to go with her. The brightly lit hallways made it almost feel like home.

"Sasha it's so nice here!" I gushed as we made our way to the hallway with the dorms.

"I know right! I just love it! Oh, and don't take much offense to Amanda. She has trouble adjusting to change." Sasha slid her room card thorough the slot and the handle clicked open.

Even Sasha noticed how bratty she was being. I thought it was just me.

My light blue PiNK tote had all of my dance shoes, knee braces, and equipment I would need. Plus extra bobby pins and a water bottle.

My clothes were already emptied into the closet I was using so I thankfully didnt have to do that. For my first day of dance, I selected lace purple booty shorts and a navy blue crop top.

Sasha had a pink and silver two tone full piece. To make a good first impression I would French braid my hair to a side ponytail like Paige always did.

The seconds turned to minutes, and finally it was time to head to dance.

"You won't need that water bottle Maddie. They provide drinks for you." Sasha told me right before we left. I quickly tossed my water bottle on my bed and walked to dance with Sasha.

April's studio class was the largest room of all the dance rooms.

I put my bag into the cubby next to Sasha's and sat down where all of the other kids were sitting. April was on her cellphone, but she ended her call and came to our semicircle.

"Hi guys! I'm April, as you know. I'd like to do an assessment to see all of your skill levels and place you into groups. You can each make up three eight counts of a dance, that must include a jump, acro trick, and turn sequence. In about thirty minutes I'll assess, so get to work!" She smiled and went to go out on music for us to warm up too.

Sasha had gotten the corner of the room for us to stretch in. As I was warming up my splits, two boys walked over to us and started to stretch.

"Hey Sasha, who's this cutie?" The slightly taller one said to Sasha with a smug look.

She rolled her eyes and laughed. "Cut it out Sam. This is Maddie."

Sam grinned and offered me his hand. "The pleasure is mine, Miss. Maddie."

I just blushed and giggled stupidly as I shook his hand. This Sam kid was clearly a ladies man; his friend who's name was Josh was more laid back.

"Maddie's going out for Ariel." Sasha said boldly. I smiled slightly and stretched my wrists.

"Good luck. With your dancing talent you should do great." Josh said nicely. I liked this kid, and the fact that he dances was a total plus.

We all split up to come up with choreography. I would begin with a kick turn, and then do a triple pirouette, illusion turn sequence. For jumps, I'd just do a toe-touch like jump. Obviously I'd nail a side Aerial somewhere in there. Making up the dance moves would be a easy add in.

"Alright guys! Let's take a seat in the back of the room, and have our first dancer come up here. That'd be.. Miss. Sasha Abbington!" April's face was glowing as Sasha took the center of the room.

Sasha immediately kicked it off with a side aerial, into a split. Keeping up the high energy she did a set of pump turns with explosive facials and perfect execution. She was a terrific dancer!

"You did great!" I cooed as she took a seat next to me. "Thanks Mads. I think Sam likes you!" Her eyes got wide and I noticed that it was Sam's turn.
