"Soo..." Sophie toyed with a extra blonde piece of hair and batted her long thick eyelashes at Josh, who was currently looking up scenes from popular well known Broadway musicals.
"I say we do, a scene from Ariel. It would be good practice for us. Wouldn 't it?" As I'm staring at Josh, I can't help but notice he is cute. He's got these dimples right in the center of his tanned cheeks, and brown eyes that just warm your soul with one look into them. His dirty blonde/light brown hair falls perfectly in place, complimenting his tan complexion.
"Uh, Hello?" He waves a hand in front of mine and Sophie's face. It's quite embarrassing to see that he noticed we were totally checking him out.
"That sounds great Josh. What scene? Maybe we could do the one where Ariel saves Prince Eric, and shows Eric to Scuttle." I suggest, thinking of memorable scenes from Ariel.
"Yeah, cool. I guess I'll be Eric; cause i'm a guy and all." Josh says nonchalantly. I laugh a bit and Sophie instantly pipes up.
"I'm Ariel, then. Maddie you can be scuttle."
"But you were auditioning for Scuttle, not Ariel. So wouldn't it make more sense if we -- "
"It's fine like this Maddie. Let's start by me holding Josh in my arms. Then I'll walk over to Maddie and start explaining my discovery. Kay?" Sophie says taking total control.
Being that I have no better idea, and don't want to act bratty in front of Josh; I keep my mouth shut and go with it. Sophie seems to be loving the fact that she gets to hold Josh, and like caress him. It makes me sick.
"Scuttle! Look what I found! A human! Isn't it neat? It has feet!" Sophie calls to me very gleefully.
"Ahh, yes. I suppose it is a human. Whattya gonna do with it?" I say back using a slightly nasal voice like scuttles.
"Oh, well I guess I'm going to keep him. You know, love him?" Sophie is now going totally out of script.
"Is he alive?" I'm going to stick to the script, no matter what she does.
"How will I know? Maybe, if I kiss him he'll come back to life." Sophie says softly and awkwardly kisses him on the lips.
Josh snaps his eyes open and jumps out of her arms. "Can we not do that part?!" He yells. Him, and Sophie are now blushing.
"We're not. Sophie, you're supposed to start singing. Not kiss him. You've seen Ariel before, right?" I raise an eyebrow at her.
She plays with her necklace and then looks at me. "Oh, right. I just thought improv was an important skill. Should I sing now, Maddie?"
"Please do." I quietly mutter under my breath.

My next class is Voice Lessons, with Madame Lipur. She's a really famous voice instructor, and does work on broadway. Totally cool.
The caramel colored hair that could only belong to Amanda, is sitting front and center. She's chatting away and complimenting Madame. What a suck up. I take the next open seat next to Amanda, and smile at her.
"Oh, it's you." She gives me an icy stare and holds her gaze.
"What's that supposed to mean? If you're trying to scare me out of auditioning for Ariel it's not working Amanda." I'm attempting to give her the same look back, but I fail miserably.
"Whatever." She retorts and tosses her hair behind her shoulder.
Madame Lipur's grayish blonde hair is packed in a tight bun, and she has ruby rimmed glasses. When what I'm assuming to be the whole class finally takes their seats, Madame Lipur takes a seat behind the piano.
"Today, I will sort everyone into voice parts. Soprano 1, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, and if your voice permits; Baritone. When your name is called, sing the provided scale." She purses her light pink colored lips and smiles.
"Um, lets see here... Miss. Mina Montoya?"
Mina smiled and shuffled between the rows of desks, finally reaching the piano.
"Just sing a simple, Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So, scale for me, dear."
Mina pauses, then belts out the chords. Her voice is on the lower side but clearly she has no difficulty hitting the higher notes.
"Please take your seat. And, Can I have Miss. Amanda please?"
Cockily, Amanda struts to the front of the room and puts a hand on her hip.
"Regular scale?" She says in a know it all tone.
Madame Lipur is taken aback as she smiles and nods weakly.
I wish Amanda had a bad voice but she sang wonderfully. Definitely classified as a soprano.
After a few other kids, She called me.
I smoothed out my jeans and walked up to the front. Cautious at first, but confident at the end is how I performed the scale. It took me a few octaves to get used to my voice.
"Thank you dear."
After me she started to jot down a bunch of notes, scan other papers, and even look some things up on her computer.
"Okay. Soprano 1 is as follows; Makayley Joice, Rhiannon True, Bailey Voight. Soprano; Amanda Silversmith, Joselyn Bhatt, Madison Ziegler. Alto; Mina Montoya, Christa Shank, and Faye Hagginbottom."
She continued on with the boys and I felt a sense of satisfaction. I'd made soprano! Usually, I had been classified as Alto which upset me. Everyone always said higher voices were prettier and more feminine, not low voices.
"Does everyone have an idea of who they will be auditioning for? I have to give you the required pieces for you to practice." After seeing all of us nod, she got out the musical song packets.
"Please take this song sheet, if you're auditioning for Ariel. This one for Eric." Amanda and I both jumped up and sped walked to the sheet music.
My hand graced contact with Josh's as he grabbed the sheet for Prince Eric. Tingles were sent from my hand to my heart within seconds. He gave me a small smile and walked back to his seat.
I discovered Mina was auditioning for Ursula. She would make a great Ursula, judging from the dark emotion she was able to show in her dancing.
"I want everyone to pair up with someone auditioning for another part. Practice your parts with them. Okay?" Madame Lipur smiled and played some relaxing music from pandora.
Just as I was about to get up, a curly haired brunette approached me. She had high tops on, and a neon crop top with a neon Cami on underneath. The whole outfit was topped off with huge heart shaped hoop earrings.
"Hey! Maddie right? I'm Alyssa Brendigan." She was chewing gum, and had a really spunky personality.
"Yes! Hi, you're auditioning for whom?" I said politely.
"Flounder, but I'm required to sing Scuttle's song because Flounder doesn't have one!" She explained.
Before I was able to say another word, she had started singing her song.
"Wonderful stuff! That human stuff! If you're a buff, of human stuff!" She kept good rhythm as she sang the very familiar chorus.
"Nice job! You're a shoe in. My turn?"
She smiled and gave me a thumbs up. Suddenly, everyone had stopped singing and was kinda listening and watching me.
"What would I give, if I could live out of these waters? What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand? Betcha on land, they understand. Bet ya they don't reprimand their daughters! Bright young women! Sick of swimming! Ready to stand!!" I was at my full confidence level, and singing to my full capability.
As soon as I finished Alyssa's mouth was wide open in shock. Everyone else clapped but Amanda. She just rolled her eyes and kept practicing with Josh.
Amanda: 0
Maddie: 1
