Chapter 2: "Never Investigate"

The police arrived after a few minutes and questioned everybody at the party. Madison was still at a lost for words.

After Melanie was questioned, she went looking for Madison and found her in her car.

"Hey Mads" Melanie said. Melanie didn't respond but started sobbing up.

Melanie got in the car and tried to comfort Madison "Who would do something like this?" Melanie asked.

Melanie turned over to Madison and rubbed her back. Josh then walked by the car.

"How are you doing?" Josh asked. Madison wiped her eyes, ignoring Josh's question "did they question you?" Madison asked "yeah" Josh replied.

"I can't believe that somebody would do that, and at a party" Josh said.

Madison caught a glimpse of two body bags being put inside of the ambulance making her cry more.

Josh opened the car door and Madison got out and they hugged.

"It's okay, It's okay" Josh said. Madison balled her eyes out on Josh's shoulder.

The next day, Madison came downstairs for breakfast and turned on the tv.

"Last night two teens were murdered at a house party..." the man on the tv said

Madison quickly turned off the tv "good morning!" Madison's mom said scaring Madison.

"Geez Mom, you scared me!" Madison said "I'm sorry, is everything okay?" Madison's mom said "no, did you hear about last night?" Madison asked.

"No, what happened?" Madison's mom asked "Olivia and Jacob were murdered last night" Madison said much to her mother's surprise.

Madison's mom quickly tried changing the subject "I thought I told you not to go to that party" she said "mom!" Madison exclaimed.

Madison began crying and her mom rubbed her back in an attempt to comfort her.

Madison's phone rang, It was Melanie "hello?" Madison said "hey, where are you?" Melanie asked on the other line "I'm on my way" Madison said.

Madison said goodbye to her mom, put her jacket and shoes on and headed out the door to her car.

Madison drove to Melanie's house and Melanie was waiting on the porch "It's about time" Melanie said as she walked up to the car and got in.

Madison then drove off to school "are you alright?" Melanie asked "I better than last night" Madison said.

Melanie turned the radio up and another one of their favorite songs played, Here by Alessia Cara.

Melanie tried to make Madison feel better by singing the song "what am I doing here, uh uh uh oh-ooh here!" Melanie sang making Madison chuckle.

"You ever thought about singing lessons?" Madison joked. Madison and Melanie both shared a laugh.

Madison and Melanie arrived at school a few minutes late "oh God! We're late!" Melanie exclaimed as she exited the car "we're only like a few minutes late" Madison said.

"Yeah but my first period teacher is Mr. Edwards, he's very strict" Melanie said.

"Shit, I have him for my third period, well good luck" Madison said as she exited the car.

Madison walked towards her class and turned around seeing Melanie about to walk into class and gave her a "you got this" look.
