T A Q W A.
I was engrossed in reading the Quran.I was reading the Quran quietly as I got a text. I rarely used my phone, Today I was reading one of my favorite Surahs Al Maida such an amazing surah.
That was my favorite verse from the surah with all the terrorism in this dunya people need to be aware of the akhirah.
Unknown:You have work today don't be late Miss Taqwa I'll be expecting you in the next thirty minutes.
Without hesitation I knew it was Mr Khaid, its Saturday anyways after yesterday. I knew something about him, he wasn't someone you want to be in company with (1)he is rude as fudge(2)he is super sarcastic and sarcasm is like lying and I don't like sarcasm as a matter of fact(3)he has an ego the size of the Pacific Ocean.
I closed my Quran and kept it by my bed side. I decided to wear blue jeans and a tank top I combed my brown hair. Oh how I hated my hair but mashaAllah, my hair was brownish black. Hibah loved the color of my hair but I wasn't a big fan of it, after I was done I put on my burqa and niqab.
The air hit me as I left my apartment on my way to work. Walking on the streets of New York was something else and with all the unpleasant sounds like curse words, honks I wasn't a person to go for a walk everyday I prefer staying indoors.
As I walked through Khalid enterprises I couldn't help but admire the company. It had chandeliers, with beautiful couches how can someone be this rich. I wasn't really the one for worldly pleasures it had too much fitnah. I wanted a simple life, a simple job, simple house, cozy house, not traveling all the time, no attention
I wanted a simple life.
A happy life.
Wealth causes people to forget Allah and to think money is everything. It's hard for you, to find someone this days that gives charity, zakah, sadaqah, thanks Allah everyday for his wealth and treats poor people as equals, who doesn't mistreat his employees.
In the Quran Allah said The life of the world is but a sport and a pastime. And if ye believe and ward off (evil). He will give you your wages, and will not ask of you your wordly wealth.
I knocked on Mr Khalid's door waiting for him to answer
I waited. No answer.
I knocked again. No answer.
"Go inside Taqwa"a voice piped. I turned around to see a beautiful brunette. Lots of pretty people around here.
"Mr Khalid isn't in the mood to talk, it's one of his angry days so if you don't go inside he won't answer you and you'll end up loosing your job"she said.
"Why is he angry"I asked her furrowing my eyebrows.
"Taqwa don't try to know Mr Khalid, he doesn't like people interfering in his life or bieng late"she said emphasizing on late.
"Yah ok" I say "by the way what's your name"I asked.
"Chloe, now go"she pushed making me laugh.
I entered his office. It was mess, I don't know how am going to start cleaning it. He also looked like a mess, his hair was messy he wasn't wearing his tie and he was writing something on his desk really fast.
"Good Morning sir"I say.
"Clean the office"he replied bluntly.
What no good morning. This man is more rude than I thought. I picked up the papers and arranged them accordingly on his shelf. I even arranged his books alphabetically. I was used to this, I loved it when my books are arranged alphabetically I won't have a hard time looking for them.
"After your ten minutes break prepare my coffee"he informed.
"Mr Khalid, I have you know drinking strong coffee by this time is bad for your health"I said looking at him in a matter of fact tone.
"I'll have you know Miss Taqwa that when I hired you I didn't hire you to be my doctor but to be my maid so please don't interfere in my life"he yelled.
"Mr Khalid when I took this job it didn't say you would yell at me"I yelled back.
Who was he to yell at me?
"I will yell at you when I want, I do want I want if you don't want this job you can leave"
That shut me up though. I wanted this job? my usual sharp tongue was controlled. I needed this job the pay is super good and I don't wanna be out in the streets so I had to keep quiet. Ya Allah control my tongue I prayed.
"Am sorry I'll get you your coffee know"I said quietly my voice coming out like I was about to cry. I don't wanna cry Allah don't make me cry please.
I went to the place I usually made his coffee. I looked back and forth no one Alhamdulilah. I closed the door and pulled my niqab off. I went to the tap and washed my face as I was washing my face a voice broke me from my thoughts.
"Miss Taqwa"I heard Arif's deep voice
Oh Allah I wasn't wearing my niqab how was I going to grab it since it was by the door counter and if I turned he would see my face
What am I going to do.
