Rising Wind leaped up and attacked a rogue with her claws unsheathed. She tore at his flank, which sent him running away. Rogues had somehow gotten into the cave and were now attacking everyone. She turned to help the queens but heard a blood curling wail. Rising Wind whirled around to see Stellar Moon clawed to death by the paws of a rogue. But it wasn't just any rogue- it was Stellar Moon's brother: Silent Stalker. "No!" Rising Wind seethed. Stellar Moon went limp as soon as Rising Wind rushed to her side. Raven Swoop stalked over to Rising Wind, remembering the promise he had made to her. The captain leaped at Rising Wind, aiming his claws for her heart. She waited for his claws to come, to tear at her heart. Pain wracked her body as Raven Swoop killed Rising Wind. Good bye, my dear family. Goodbye, friends. she thought as she blacked out.
Rising Wind woke up in a pool of sweat. It was just a dream. It didn't happen. Your fine. she told herself as she got up for morning wake-up. Raven Swoop poked his head into the cave. "As Stellar Moon's guard, you have new duties and privileges. Follow me," he ordered. She nodded and padded out of her cave to follow.
"You are now allowed to order around all the lower ranks such as kits, hunters, and queens. You can also go to sleep at moon-rise and wake up at low-sun. You may not," he barked, "give orders to the captains. You can lead patrols but not organize them unless it is a hunting patrol. You may not-"
"Oh, stop it you boring fur-ball!" a voice sounded from behind Raven Swoop. "Be a little more fun and loose once in awhile!" Stellar Moon joked, coming from the shadows, her black fur dotted with silver glistening in the light. "Hello, Rising Wind. I forgot you are now my second-in-command as well as my guard." Rising Wind stared at her in shock, but Stellar Moon just chuckled. "From now on, you will call me Stellar, and I will call you Wind. Deal?" Rising Wind nodded, her mouth still hanging open. "This is going to be fun! Walk with me, Wind." Stellar laughed and motioned for Rising Wind to follow her.
"As second-in-command as well as my guard, you may order Raven Swoop around." Stellar Moon winked. Silence washed over the two as they padded out of camp. "If Raven scared you by saying you would die, don't listen to him. Please don't, as he didn't mean it." Stellar suddenly meowed. Rising Wind nodded again, afraid to speak.
"Sometimes," Rising Wind finally meowed, "I wonder what is beyond our home in the mountains. Sometimes, I wish I could travel to distant lands where no cat has been." Stellar Moon nodded, looking up at the distant stars in deep thought.
"Maybe you'll get your dream, Wind," Stellar whispered.
