Your outfit at top. Sorry if this is short!

As I walked through the halls at Stanford, I could here the other students whispers. They were about me of course, being as the news spread like wild fire across town.

"Whoa, she's back?" A girl whispered to her friend.

"Yeah, I didn't think she would be." The other said.

"Well if my parents died in a mysterious way and left me all alone with no family, then I definitely wouldn't be back here, being the town gossip."

"Yeah, I agree Stacy. She's kinda brave though. I do admire that about her."

"Yeah, I wouldn't have the guts to do it."

All the lingering stares made me feel uncomfortable. Especially since what happened only happened a few weeks ago. I clutched my books tighter to my chest, avoiding eye contact with anything and anyone.

"What do you think killed her parents?" A new voice asked quietly.

"I dunno man. I heard that the bodies were slashed so badly that you could hardly recognise who they were. And that there was blood everywhere! Like up the walls, on the floor, some even seeping through the floor and dropping down on the room below!" Another voice replied.

"Whoa, that's messed up man."

I internally winced. What they said was true. I found the bodies. Now every time I close my eyes, I see images of the horror show. Blood, guts, death! But what scarred me the most, was that they were my parents. The ones who raised me, cared for me, loved me.

And now...they're gone.

They've left me, a 19 year old girl, on her own. No family, hardly any friends, and now one messed up mind. Some part of me still believed that it was a dream. That I'd wake up, go downstairs and see that they were both there, alive and well, making breakfast or chattering away.

"They still haven't found the murderer yet apparently." A teacher gossiped to another.

Great, even the teachers were doing it now! Could this get any better?! Not wanting to hear anymore, I blocked everything out and hurried to my next class.

"Hey is this seat taken?" A deep warm voice asked beside me. I looked up to see a guy standing there. He was handsome, with long brown hair, puppy dog eyes and a gentle smile.

I shook my head, averting my eyes back to my doodling. Was this guy ok? Why would anyone wanna sit next to me? This must be some sort of joke. I bet one of his friends out him up to it.

"I'm Sam." His voice spoke again, setting his books into the desk.

"Y/N." I said emotionless, not even looking up.

"Nice to meet you Y/N." there was a silence. "Not to be rude but, are you the girl-"

"Who's parents were killed." I interrupted him.
"Yeah, that's me. You can go now, I'm sure you're only here as a joke."

"Oh no, no, no! It's not like that! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to upset you. I-I didn't mean to sound like a jerk or anything! I just wanted to offer my condolences." He rambled apologetically. I stopped doodling, turning to face him.

"Why? Nobody else has." I scoff.

"Because I've been through it before. Well, just my mother but I've still been through it. I thought that maybe I could help you out." He chuckled awkwardly.

"You-you really want to help me?" I stuttered, shocked.
Sam smiled. "Of course. I'd love to."

"You're not doing this as some sort of joke? You really want to help...me?" I whispered.

"Yeah. Isn't that what people do when others are in need?"

"But..."

I tried to think up an excuse but I couldn't. This guy, was actually willing to help me. Wanting to help me! To be honest, it kinda warmed my heart a little.

"...thank you." I smiled. An actual smile! I hadn't smiled for weeks.

"No problem. Do you wanna hang out after class? Get to know each other better? See how awesome I am?" He joked.

I giggled. "Sure, I'd like that. Thank you Sam. You've made me feel better."

"You're welcome Y/N. I'm glad I have." Sam grinned, focusing on his notes. I did the same, a happy feeling bubbling inside me. Things were finally looking up.

I don't feel as alone anymore...
