A soft prodding, gentle and more of a brush on Dean's shoulder than anything, roused him from sleep, his bleary groan escaping his lips and forcing his sleep-heavy eyes to open, meeting the warmth of his brother's smile as he leaned slightly, his hair falling over his eyes in a floppy, puppy-like way.
"Want break-fast?" Sam asked, his tongue seeming to catch on his teeth as he tried to speak. Dean had noticed since he got back that Sam still had trouble with larger words that required more effort to get out. Still, he was doing just fine in being understood, and Dean couldn't be happier that his brother was speaking at all.
"Yeah," Dean replied, breaking out into a yawn before rubbing a hand through his obviously wild hair that stuck out at random angles, "We'll meet you down there in ten minutes."
Sam's smile grew just a hair wider, "I may have bought pie for this morning," Sam responded, his voice almost casual, if not for the teasing in his tone that had Dean giving him a scrutinizing stare.
"Make it five," Dean responded, earning a laugh from his younger brother before Sam left the room. He smiled, shaking his head and turning his head, looking at the sleeping form of Castiel curled up against his side.
"Cas, get up. The pie is calling for us," Dean said softly, still a bit cautious as he reached out, letting his fingers just brush the man's cheek. They had an incident earlier in the week when the wind had slammed the open door shut downstairs, and nearly sent both Dean and Castiel into a panic. It had only taken Dean maybe a minute to get his bearings and realize that they were not in danger, but not quite the same went for Castiel. The blind man had spent several minutes struggling to escape the house, only to finally calm down when Dean managed to catch him. He never knew how agile Castiel was until then, even with no sight.
"What?" Castiel grumbled, clearly not pleased with being woken up before he was ready. The look on his face made Dean smile, his chest warming and constricting at the same time with how adorable the disgruntle expression actually was in his features.
"Food," Dean replied, as if that were the answer to the entire universe, and clearly, to Dean, it was. Castiel huffed, lying back down and letting his head bury back into the pillow with a slight groan, yet he had a smile on his face as he rolled off the bed, his feet catching him easily and standing up, stretching. Dean watched, glad that Castiel woke up so easily, unlike a certain younger brother who took absolutely forever.
"I can feel you staring at me," Castiel stated, turning and letting his hand just barely brush the bed with the pads of his fingers. Dean's smile only grew as he pulled himself to his knees so he was level with Castiel, the corners of his eyes crinkling with happiness as he let his hand slide along Castiel's neck, his fingers brushing the hair along the back gently.
"Is that a bad thing?" Dean asked, his fingers twitching to hold Castiel a little tighter. Even if they were safe, he never lost the desire to hold the man tighter to him, to protect him from the smallest things. Castiel knew it. Dean could see it written in his eyes, and he couldn't help but appreciate that he never mentioned it.
Castiel used his fingers as a guide to find Dean's lips, leaning forwards and letting their lips brush against each other in a gentle kiss, the slightly chapped skin doing nothing but dragging a breath through Dean's nose, his eyes fluttering closed as he kissed back, his free hand finding Castiel's side where he let his fingers massage the skin gently.
When they pulled away, it was with a laugh from Dean as he pulled Castiel to him, hugging him tightly and letting his scent fill the air around him. He could feel Castiel smile against his hairline, powerful arms encircling him as well and holding him tight.
"I might have wanted to mention that Gabriel is going to be over in ten minutes, so if you don't hurry, you won't get any pie," Dean heard Sam say, looking over and seeing the teen standing by the doorway with an amused look on his face. Castiel lifted his head just a little more, looking in Sam's general area with a slight grimace.
"That would have been smart," Castiel retorted, his dry tone of saying it making Sam smirk in a little mischevious way. Dean took that as Gabriel is a little shit that would steal all the pie and hopped off the bed, easing an arm around Castiel and pulling him towards the door.
"Seriously, Sam? Am I gonna have to fight your boyfriend already?" Dean asked as he led Castiel out of the room, pulling him into the kitchen as Sam walked in front of him. His younger brother a good-natured shrug, glancing at the slightly annoyed look on Castiel's face from being drug around like a toddler on a leash.
"I could always just tell him your little secret if you want to," Sam said, and Dean stopped dead in his tracks, a dark glare appearing on his face as he bared his teeth at his younger brother. The light twinkling in his eyes betrayed that he wasn't actually as angry as he tried to show.
"Oh really? Then I'll tell him about the time that you got a hold of-" Dean started to say, only to stop when Sam clasped a hand over his mouth, his eyes narrowing.
"You swore you'd never speak of that again," Sam huffed, and Dean grinned against his hand, feeling Castiel shift in confusion underneath his arm.
"What are you two talking about?" Castiel asked, one eyebrow arching up and Dean didn't have a chance before Sam grinned and opened his mouth to speak.
"Dean likes wearing panties," Sam chirped.
"Sam used a cucumber as a dildo once," Dean countered, both of the brother's faces flushing bright red. Living in such cramped spaces, it had taken a long time to get used to the fact that they knew a lot more secrets about each other than normal families.
"Only because I saw you doing it first!" Sam countered.
"Can't say the same for the electric toothbrushes you kept stealing though."
"Nothing can beat the ti-"
"Will you both shut up? It's very disturbing," Bobby shouted from the living room, and when Dean looked over, he could have died when he saw that Bobby had been sitting at his desk the entire time. Sam's eyes widened, and he ducked farther into the kitchen, out of view, while Castiel had lips pressed together in a thin line, struggling not to laugh.
"You two are quite...something," Castiel responded after a moment of silence, and Dean groaned, shielding his face from the world. It only worsened when Gabriel walked in as if he owned the place, looking at all the red faces with a slight look of concern.
"Did I miss something?"
