I was lying on my bed dangling my feet off the end. Ash, my twin brother was playing his video game on his bed. I sighed as I couldn't get sleep. It was pitch black, besides Ash's light from his game. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs towards our room. There was a knock on the door and right then, I knew it was my father. As in an instant, I was at the top of my bed curled up in a tight ball as if I was asleep. Ash quickly turned off his game and put it under his pillow and started to pretend to snore. Father walked in to check on us and saw us sleeping. He smiled to himself and quietly walked back out the door and closed it.

I could hear his heavy boots slam on the steps going down. I sighed again as I heard Ash's game turn back on. I turned over onto my side and stared at the glowing, orange alarm clock.

'It's only 10:27? I need to get to sleep...' I thought to myself. I sighed again and shut my eyes tightly, refusing to open them again. Slowly, seeming like forever, I slowly drifted to sleep, the sound of my fan and brothers video game echoing through my head.

I woke to birds chirping and the rustling of my brother waking up. I looked over at the alarm clock going off. It was 7:00 and time for school. I groaned as I tried to untangle myself from my blankets. Ash came over and picked me up and put me on his back and dragged me to the closet. He dropped me. As I got up, I glared at him.

"Really, Ash?" I said not looking at him while going through my clothes, wondering what to wear.

"Really!" Ash said, taking off his shirt showing his nice 6 pack. He slipped on his gray shirt with a wolf on it. I wasn't much of a girly girl, more of a tom boy. I grabbed my favorite shirt, a black t-shirt with a wolf on fire. I walked into the bathroom and started to brush my beautiful, brown-red hair. It was straight hair that reached down to my waist.

Around 7:30 we were both ready and walked down the stairs and started to walk to school.

I was walking side by side with Ash. I had her hands in my pocket, looking down. I wore her black hoodie over my head, hiding my hair. Ash was smiling as usual, looking every which way to look for his best friend, Seth. I started to kick a rock about the size of my hand. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around on my heel just to be caught by my boyfriend Taylor. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it would stretch out like in cartoons.

Taylor looked at her puzzled "Ember, are you okay? You seemed worried." I looked into his beautiful, light green eyes.

"Yeah I'm okay," I said, trying to think of an excuse of why to be all jumpy. "I'm just...worried for the big exam today in 7th period." Taylor smiled and nodded and started walking again. I smiled to myself, knowing that I was probably going to fail the exam today. About half way to school, Seth came running up to us, out of breath.

"Sorry, I got held up by my grandma. She wanted to make me eat breakfast." Seth rolled his eyes. We laughed, knowing that we don't eat breakfast. It seemed like that everyone was getting to them all at once. My best friend, Alice, came out of her house as we were passing it. Ash's girlfriend came sneaking behind them and jumped on Ash's back. I kept my eyes down, glaring at Ash's girlfriend, Sky, knowing she was a little slut. About 7:47, we arrived at school.

We all walked into the large school. I still had my head down with my hood over my head. Taylor had his arms around my waist as we were walking. Alice and Seth walked off towards their lockers, both right beside each others. Ash and Sky went off to "talk". Taylor was guiding me as we were walking down the halls. I closed my eyes, seeing that image again. A forest on fire at night, and a wolf jumped out of the smoke, also on Fire. I shuddered at the image and quickly opened my eyes back up. I saw the red, hard floor. I felt that Taylor's arms were gone and I looked up. Taylor was staring at me with a puzzled face.

"What?" I asked, raising an eye brow. I put her weight on one leg and crossed my arms.

"What's wrong? I know it's not the exam, now tell me." Taylor demanded. I sighed and tried to walk off but Taylor caught me and dragged me by my waist back in front of him. I glared at him.

"Let me go, I'm going to be late for class." I said straight out, knowing I never cared about being on time.

Taylor rolled his eyes. "Since when did you want to get in class on time?" I huffed.

"Things change." I crossed my arms again and sighed. "Fine, I guess I just don't think that Sky is the right girlfriend for Ash." I lied again. I tried not to laugh as I saw Seth down the hall trying to make a move on Alice.

Taylor didn't look convinced. He gave a long heavy sigh. "Me either. But as long as she makes him happy." He picked me up bridal style and took me to my first class, English. I kissed him on the cheek and watched him walk off. I smiled to myself as the bell rang. I walked to my chair at the back of the room and sat my bag down. I sat down and put my legs on the desk.
