Part I: The Beginning

I sit back in my seat, clutching my backpack close to me by the straps as I'm still able to listen to the hover train rumble like lightning. The fact I have my headphones in, playing metal music at a decent volume doesn't help drown out the noise; it was annoying for half the time I've been riding this train to the city of Reisevy. After deciding to leave my parents' home recently, I packed up my personal things and departed for the train station after leaving them a note on the refrigerator. I explained to them I found an apartment and plan to accomplish my dream of becoming a fully fledged Mage. Ever since I could remember, I always knew I had a gift and knew it in the deepest depths my heart and soul to perfect it. I have even previously consulted the ancient spell books from the local library for some guidance since there were no masters in the city.

I move my head to face the left and spot a mysterious hooded man sitting by himself. Judging by the body shape, he's rather large, probably about six foot three, the shadows of the dark hood of his cape pulled over his head concealing his face so I can not see him to establish a facial identity. The mystery man looks like he could be some sort of warrior due to his gray metal vambraces and chest armor over his pine green shirt with long sleeves. He even has an ivory white belt with a gun holster on his right hand side and a sword sheathed on his back. I feel the need to go sit by him, but I think it's best to leave him alone. I shift my gaze toward the window, hoping to resist the temptation to sit with the mysterious warrior, and see the city of Reisevy in the distance. Wow, I think as I observe the sun setting over the horizon with the sky now in different colors, ranging from yellow to orange to red to pink to purple.

Ladies and gentlemen, Train 34 will be arriving at Reisevy in ten minutes, the train conductor announces over the PA. That's my cue to begin checking inside my backpack to see if anything fell out whilst I wasn't looking. My spell book, phone, laptop, and my stuffed panda are all there.

Wait.

My rose quartz heart! Where is it, I panic internally before putting down my backpack in the seat next to me and swiftly but thoroughly scanning my surroundings, hoping my rose quartz is around here somewhere. I look under the four rows of seats near me and even ask a few people on the train to see if any of them have seen it, but it is to no avail. I could've inquired with the mystery man on the train but I felt a little intimidated and fearful when I came within a few feet from him.

I sadly walk back to my row and flop down in my seat. That rose quartz is the most important thing I owned and now it's gone. I could always go buy a new one but it wouldn't feel the same. The most positive thing I could think about now is looking forward to my new apartment in Reisevy and starting anew. I gaze out the window and watch the clouds coming in and covering the ocean below, until the train goes into the tunnel and everything goes dark.

The train finally arrives at the international station of Reisevy. I stand up as soon as the carts come to a halt and quickly slip on the straps of my backpack to my shoulders then reach up and open the compartment above my head to retrieve my luggage. I pull out my bag from the compartment but I lose my balance as I am reminded of how heavy it is, once it causes me to stumble backwards.

"Fuck!" I curse repeatedly in my thoughts for I knew I was about to hit my head on something. To my surprise, I suddenly felt a hand on my back stop me from falling and soon I was able to regain my balance. "Thank you," I began, turning around to catch a glance at the person who helped me to stop from falling and possibly hurting myself. The only one I can see in the crowd is the enigmatic warrior exiting the train like he is in some sort of hurry. I smile in gratitude and realize I am holding my luggage over my head like a dumbass. I lower my arms and grasp the straps of my bag before swiftly striding down the isle and exiting the train.
