The split second the platoon pull the triggers of their weapons, forming a barrage of arrows and bullets, I strike my palms together once. I thrust my palms forward and a spherical shield of lavender purple energy manifests around us. Their arrows fall to the ground as soon as they hit the shield and bullets ricochet. "Go," I shout to Biz and Carlos, careful to not look away from the shield, "The shield only keeps things out, not in!" In an instant, Biz aims his pistols then fires at the troops as Carlos charges out of the shield toward them and strikes them swiftly with his staff. Biz sprints out of the shield, jumps on a few crates, then lunges up in the air and unleashes a storm of bullets.
The troops are occupied trying to shoot the two men down, giving me the opportunity to drop my shield. I wave my hands and arms in smooth, controlled movements and begin manipulating the energy used to create the shield. The purple energy circles around me and I warn Biz and Carlos to go up to the roof before releasing a wave of eldritch magical energy, massacring the remaining troops. The wave dissipates into thin air after the bloodshed is finished. Dazed and tired, I place my hand near my temple. Shit, I almost forgot using that much energy can really take a lot out of you. Not to mention the headaches that feel like someone's digging an ice pick into your brain.
Suddenly, I catch a glimpse of Biz and Carlos coming toward me and feel one of them put their hand on the right side of my back. "That was fucking awesome, but are you okay," I think it's Biz's voice who expressed concern. I regain control over myself in spite of the lingering sensation of dizziness. I glance up to the two of them and give the thumbs up. Carlos gazes back at Biz and I, explaining we have to make a run for it back to their hideout before more troops come. "Why must you leave so soon, my dear friends?" An eerie male voice booms in front of us, making me feel as though my insides are on fire from an overwhelming sense of dread.
I notice the prominent figure of a man in a dark hooded cloak similar to the one I saw last night standing about ten feet away from us. Biz's voice grows serious as he glances over to the man and aims his pistol at him the same time Carlos firms the grip on his staff. "What's it to you, you fucking traitor," Biz hisses at the man with his finger on the trigger. It's clear they know the man personally but who he is is another question dying to be asked. "Give me the girl and I'll go about my day, Biz." I accidentally lock eyes with the man and can see a few strands of his platinum blonde hair past his hood. In an instant, I can feel his evil red eyes pierce through and haunt my soul. Biz remarks fearlessly to him that he won't hand me over so easy as I hide behind him. The man shrugs and smirks at us before stating with a threatening tone, "Have it your way." He snaps his fingers once.
After half a minute, the man calls out, "Silver!" Nothing happens until a large war hammer comes flying out of nowhere and lands in between us and the man. We all turn our attention to where it came from and watch a woman with long hickory brown hair wearing a dark cloak come flying and slam onto the ground. I look over Biz's arm to keep my eye on where the woman came from. My eyes widen as I watch the tattered cape flowing in the wind belonging to a familiar, mysterious warrior. "Great timing, Dom," Biz shouts at him, keeping his pistol aimed at the man.
The cloaked man scoffs indifferently and smirks. "Long time no see, old friend." The mysterious warrior I now know as Dom, grabs the hilt of his sword and speeds toward the man in the blink of an eye. I shut my eyes the moment before I could see them clash. "Carlos, take Lotus and get out of here." I immediately open my eyes again to glance at Biz reloading both of his pistols. Carlos looks away for a couple seconds before looking back over at the gunslinger. "Can you take them?" I'm shocked at his response. In fact, I despise it. I clench my teeth and ball up my fists before protesting. Leaving a man behind is the last thing I want to happen, especially in the state Reisevy is in right now with the red troops on our asses.
