[Chapter 6]
We all hung out in the park for a couple of hours after school. Olivia, Soraya, Jordan and I, really didn't feel like going home in any way. Steve had left just as our free period began, saying he had a lot of homework and that he would rather go home now and finish it all.
We spent our time sitting on the bench, speaking of useless things, not really knowing what to do with our time. We laughed a lot and told each other jokes. It was actually really fun!
As Soraya and Olivia gossiped about all the new stuff going on, like 'Who was dating who' and 'Who had cheated on who', Jordan and I went to the skatepark and did a couple of tricks. It was really cool to just hang out with him, cause we did have a lot in common and knew what to talk about. There were some awkward silences, but we always covered them up with interesting things. We really were becoming good friends.
"Wow. Look at them going on and on about whatever they're talking about." I looked over to see Soraya making huge gestures with her hands obviously explaining something to Olivia who was nodding and seemed really interested. From where we were standing we couldn't hear what they were going on about, but I automatically knew that I wasn't going to go back to that bench until they were done. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Since when are you friends with them? I mean, no offence, but you don't really seem like the type who hangs out with girls like them." I looked at him with a sarcastic expression. We were now sitting on the ground leaning against the wall of the park. I nudged him with my shoulder.
He laughed and nudged me back, this time harder than I had. "I dont know really. Soraya was the first person to talk to me when got to this school. We actually went out for a little bit." He looked at me to see my reaction.
"Seriously? No way!" I really wasn't expecting that. "For how long?"
"About 6 months. We were more friends than anything else. She was actually the one to ask if we could just go back to just being friends, and I was so relieved when she did! And Olivia was always Soraya's best girl friend, so she was just there since the very beginning." He looked at me and grinned. "Steve came the year after me and we hung out as soon as he got here. He really is a good friend." I smiled at that and nodded in agreement. I looked back at the two, and this time it was Olivia making the huge movements with her arms. They both giggled at the same time and then got back to their discussion. "So you got a boyfriend?"He asked curiously.
I stared at him in a surprised way. "Me? A boyfriend? Seriously?" I looked at him to see if he may just have been joking. As I realized it was an honest question I couldn't help but laugh. "No! No I do not have a boyfriend. I'm really not the sort of girl guys are interested in to have a girlfriend, they all see me as a great friend they can skate with and get advice from. That's all there is to it really..." He looked at me stunned. I wasn't sure what part he was surprised about, whether it was the part of me not being their type, or cause they came to me with advice....
"Not their type?" Oh, that's what he was surprised about. "Dude, you are like the coolest girl I know, and I only met you like two days ago." Wow that was really sweet of him. I was the coolest girl he knew... What a compliment! I could tell he wanted to day more, but Olivia and Soraya's discussion seemed to have gone to an end.
"Guys! I have a lot of work to do, so we are gonna head back, okay?" Olivia yelled out from where they had been sitting for the past hour. "You guys wanna come or y'all gonna stay?"
We both looked at each other. "Wanna see my place?" Jordan asked smiling. I nodded as we got up and caught up with the girls. "No one is home so we can just chill!" He seemed really happy about.
