Hey people, what's up? Yeah, retorical question unless you really wanna comment below and tell me XD anyways, sorry i dont update often... or ever but you know I'm not exactly a writer or anything and it's not like it's anygood anyway. BUT I was reading over the past chapters making sure I got my facts right for this one and... as if happens they weren't right in the past chapters :P (they're fixed now (: ) i had Kyra AND Tamsin down as Dakota's mum but in my head I had it as Tamsin and Saber the old leadery ones and Dakota their kid and Kyra and Zair younger than Dakota but just 2 wolves that befriended sometime in their lives but it didnt really work and i couldn't really change it. So if you're confused or anything it's: Dakota is now Kyra and Zair's offspring and Tamsin and Saber are a couple who are older than Kyra and Zair but not by too much and Kyra and Zair are just very, VERY immature for their age. But I changed it all now so it should be fixed.
Oh dear I hate long A/N's SORRY even though it will probably only be one person reading this. hahaa so yeah. ASH I'M DETICATING IT TO YOU :D.

Being woken by wet sandpaper being wiped down the side of my face didn’t really seem realistic considering where I was. I decided to open my eyes and check exactly what this disgusting feeling was although that seemed to be a bad decision. Even though my vision was blurred by sleep I could make out a large Dakota head descending closer towards my face only to be shortly blinded by a wet, rough, slimy tongue. Right. On. My. Eye.
“EW! Dakota! That’s disgusting!” I screamed as I wiped my vision clear of saliva while I pushed her roughly away from me. Although she seemed to find it amusing to step back, of course causing me to roll of my bed with a hard ‘thud’ onto the ground and also being winded by the impact of the awkward angle I landed on.
After a short recovery I got up and brushed myself clean of the dirt then glanced around to find no Dakota.
“Stupid, annoying wolf.” I muttered to myself and made my way towards the exit. Before I got there my foot caught on a strange shaped object on the ground causing me to fall straight to the hard, dusty ground. Looking back I saw the small shredded juice box that Dakota had got to the day before. I thought back to the memories of the day before, pushed myself back onto my feet the headed back towards the exit once more. Making it successfully there I glanced back around to admire the well-crafted hide-away but when I turned back to leave for the last time a large , moist, leafy branch came into contact with my face that left where it had hit stinging.
“Today really isn’t my day.” I said to myself, rubbing my face, as I finally headed back towards the river.
~~~
“How much longer?”’ I groaned to whoever was still listening to me. Saber turned from the pack who were roughly 5 metres in front of me and gave me a ‘Shut up’ face then quickly turned back. I didn’t blame them I’d been nagging all day, but who wouldn’t? When I say all day I mean all day. We soon left in the morning after a quick breakfast of whatever we could find and we had walked all day and it had to be approaching 5pm judging by the sun. Looking up to the sky proved to be a bad decision though as another near-fall followed. The wolves didn’t even bother to turn and check that time as they had for the last 50 times. It seems they thought it a waste of their time.
“Another river crossing?” I questioned to no-one in particular after I examined the upcoming track. Kyra and Zair were practically bouncing with joy as they had for the past river crossings. It wasn’t even funny how much they enjoyed playing in water. Although I couldn’t say I hated it either. It surely was a pleasant brake, especially for my feet since I had been walking bare-foot since the day after my mother died as I saw no sense in keeping the one shoe I was left with although at times I wish I had. Either way flats wouldn’t make much of a difference besides stopping the occasional scratch but the water surely cleaned that up.
This river seemed a lot larger than all the previous ones, if I was right, I remember Mum telling me that the river in this part of the woods was called the Valenor River or something along those lines. We had planned to go hiking around this area to get a good look, so, if I was right, there should be a good camping spot just up the river, on the other side, towards the thicker bush.
I continued splashing and swimming in the river until I noticed the pack had stopped mid river, standing dead-still. Immediately I stopped moving and traced their lines of vision. They were looking upstream with all their ears pricked back listening to something. I listened in too. Absolute silence, until I focused further and heard quite splashing and muffled cries of joy. It was undeniably a human voice, but neither adult nor child. Somehow the voice seemed vaguely familiar, but that couldn’t be. The voice was male and the only male, or female for that matter, voices I’ve heard have been on movies and TV. Surely the owner of the voice was around my age, but familiar? I strongly doubted it.
By this stage the wolves were slowly- quietly- making their way out of the river and towards the source of the sound. I followed, keeping my footsteps light; a few twigs snapped beneath my feet, it wasn’t too noticeable. The closer we got the more nervous I became, ‘Who could it be? Why are they here?’ I kept asking myself. Through the trees I could see a glimpse of messy brown hair moving around near the water making more splashes, although not as loud as before. We went through the trees, further and further, closer and closer. Only one tree hid me, I could almost see the scene clearly. ‘One more step.’ I told myself. As I took the step I knew there was something wrong. The splashing had stopped. A stick broke loudly beneath my foot.
“Who’s there?” The brown-haired male spoke sounding petrified as if we were a threat. I took one more step to make myself visible, I kept my eye contact to the ground.
“Er… Hi?’ I said adding a small, shy wave and a smile. I finally looked up to see who exactly I was speaking to. I was surprised to see who it was. In fact past surprised, I was totally shocked.
Blane’s son.
“I know you,” He said quickly, as he pointed at me,“You’re that girl that Dad doesn’t like for some reason…” He trailed off.
“Um yeah... That’s me.” I was never good at socializing, not even with the postman once a month. He looked distracted as if he was thinking about something. “Is something wrong?”
He broke his trance, “Er.. Um… Not really… Just, Dad.” He mumbled.
“Oh.” What else was I meant say? This wasn’t my forte at all. Finally, I think, Dakota Realized this and left the trees to join me as the other wolves stayed behind.
“Th-that’s a-a wolf!” He stuttered as he pointed at Dakota he then took a step back, tripped and fell flat on his bum in the water.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “No sh-she’s a-a but-ter-ter-fl-fly!” I spoke through laughter.
“Not funny.” He glared at me. Suddenly I felt so much for comfortable talking to him, as if he broke the ice by falling on his bum.
“Here,” I offered my hand for him to use getting up, “Are you okay?”
‘Yeah,” He muttered, “Just peachy.’ I smiled at that.
“I’m Leila. Your dad’s probably told you all about me…”
“Sam,” he pointed to himself briefly, smiling. “And not really, he doesn’t talk to me a whole lot about who he hates and who he doesn’t. He’s all ‘Hunting this,’ and ‘Hunting that.’” He frowned, “He wants me to be a hunter too, it’s just not me.” He shrugged , looking at the ground.
“You’re lucky to even have a dad.” I stated.
“And you’re lucky to even have a mum.” He countered. I guess we both had something in common.
Vote, comment or whatever it means a lot to me :) you're awesome :D
