I woke up to screams, my own screams as someone stood above, shaking me. "GET UP!". I stopped screaming when I realized it was my mother, she stared at me as I calmed myself and collected my thoughts.
"Get ready for your meeting Bailey. The Mayor will be expecting you soon."
"Yes, mother."
I stared at myself in the mirror as I dressed my bronze skin with a dress and my natural looking makeup. Was I supposed to look normal? I had no clue...

I walked in the hall, the Mayor and I were the only people there, it was strange to be there alone with him, I looked around and the hall was mostly empty except for this book. The book was red and black, it looked almost new, but still very dusty. Like it was used maybe once then put back on the shelf. I felt my stomach drop when I saw it though. I knew that had all the answers to my dreams, and maybe that damn question. He left the room for a moment and well my curiosity got the best of me and i started flipping through the empty pages of the book, but as I turned the pages faster, the Mayor walked back in and I slammed the book closed.
"What is this?" I kind of glared at him.
"It's yours."
"What do you mean 'it's MINE'?"
He looked down at his feet and looked embarrassed. "I'm sorry Bailey"
"Why does everyone keep telling me that?!" I interrupt.
"You're the one Bailey. You know the answer. You've subconsciously known since birth. You're different" He sounds apologetic.
"I dont want to be different. Alex said not to answer the damn question, now here you are, telling me i've known the answer all along?"
"Bailey, you get anything you want, starting the day you turn sixteen. You never have to work, you never have to retire. Anything is up to you. Your wish is his command."
"His?"
His.
"His."
I knew exactly who he was...
"I don't want all of this control."
"Then you can live a normal life. Satan is to be your slave. Does this mean nothing to you? other people would kill for this chance Bailey!"
"Sir, what happens if I don't answer him?" I asked sheepishly.
"I shan't tell you, for I'd like you not to waste the prize of getting it right. You will answer the question. It will make your family very happy. You can live comfortably in this dump of a town."
"I-"
"Bailey, don't waste it." He walked away and the book flew open in front of my face, turning to page six hundred and sixty-six. I stared at the still mostly blank page, noticing it had the page numbered now, I checked for more page numbers but 666 is the only one I could find.
I examined the page thoroughly, making sure it was blank, I heard footsteps in the hall behind me so I turned to see who it was and no one was there, but as I turned back around I looked at the book in utter amazement as I saw words and pictures appear in the book.
I closed the book and stuffed it in my bag as I quickly ran home telling my mom, not to bother me tonight for I'd be reading, as I ran past her. I ran all the way to my room, I began to read immediately, starting on page one, the stories and lessons seemed to come alive in my head, I heard and saw everything, I fell asleep after reading the now beautiful book, when I finished the book and closed it for the night, I saw that the book had changed color, it was now a deep shade of purple. on that strange note I fell asleep..
1 more day...
