Hey guys! Thank you so much for reading this story. The picture above is of Destiny. Please read the authors note at the end of the chapter! Thanks again!

"Trick or Treat, give me something good to eat, if you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down you're underwear."  My 8 year old self said with a huge smile on her face.

It was Halloween Night, and there were hundreds of kids out on the streets. The sound of  laugher was out in the air, and the smell of candy filled my nostrils.

"Aw, aren't you so cute." The old lady at the door said, handing me 3 king sized Twix bars. "And what are you supposed to be?"

"I'm Cinderella!" I told her smiling. The lady couldn't help but laugh. I was wearing an adorable blue dress with plastic shoes that looked like glass and a cute tiara. When I smiled the gap where my front tooth used to be before I lost it a week ago was shown, which just added to my cuteness.

"Well you're the cutest Cinderella I have ever seen!" She said.

     "Thank you." I said pleased.

"Enjoy the rest of you're night." She said, closing the door behind her.

I turned around, and walking down her front steps, saw my dad across the street. I showed him the three Twix bars that I got from the lady and he gave me a thumbs up.

I looked both ways before I crossed the street, and began to make my way to my dad. I knew he was eager to get home, it was very late, almost 10 at night, and my mom wanted us home by 9, but I begged and begged him to just go to this one more house, as all my friends said she gave out the best candy, and my dad just couldn't say no to his little princess. But I should have listened, if I hadn't gone to this house maybe what was about to happen wouldn't of.

As I crossed the street, I saw my dad patiently looking at me. I was so focused on him, I didn't pay attention to where I was walking. I accidentally stepped in a crack, and my shoe came flying off in the middle of the street.

"I guess I really am Cinderella tonight." I laughed to myself.

I bent over to pick up my shoe, and began to struggle to get it back on. I was so determined to get on my shoe, I didn't see the big Tractor Trailer coming down the street. I didn't hear my dad yelling to get out of the way. And most importantly, I didn't see my dad running towards me.

I finally got my shoe on. "Yes!" I said to myself satisfied. And that was when I saw the trucks headlights, and I froze, just like a deer.

'MOVE!' I willed myself, but that was something I just couldn't do. I was frightened, and after that, everything happened in slow motion.

The truck slowed down, the people walking in the street slowed down, and my life flashed before my eyes. And then I was snapped out of it. My dad shoved me out of the way, and I fell on my butt on the street, but out of the direction of the truck.

And then everything sped up again. The truck sped up, the people walking sped up, and then it happened. My life changing moment. The moment my dad was taken out of my life forever.

When the truck hit my dad, I screamed. The loudest scream I could muster came out of my mouth. People ran towards the truck, trying to help my dad. I heard police sirens in the distance. People came running to me, asking if I was ok, but I couldn't move. I was in shock. I had witnessed my dad be hit by a truck, and it was my fault.
