That day Advent hadnt gotten home until 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. was the time to expect him home, though not his parents and none of the maids or personal servants would bother with his birthday.
"Who the hell made this?" His parents had long stopped celebrating his birthday. The cake wasn't with a steady hand, or much patience. A note next to it on the counter explained its being there.
'Happy Birthday Advent! I hope you had a nice day! -Hope'
He crumpled up the letter and tossed it behind him. "Why does she have to be so persistent with this crap?" He went upstairs and closed the door before he blasted his music. His parents worked late and Hope was usually out with her friends whenever he got home. He reached under the bed to find his stash of beer, taking out a couple of bottles and guzzling them down over the course of the next half hour.
Advents social life in school wasnt one that allowed for him to make many friends. He was the type of bully that you'd expect to roll with the 'higher circle' in school but not even the popular group that he would well fit in with wanted to be friends with him. "Happy Seventeenth birthday to me..." He sighed and in his buzz decided to go downstairs for something to eat. When he got to the kitchen the first thing that caught his eye was the cake.
He grudgingly walked over to it and only did he now notice how poorly it was iced. It was a sloppy mess to say the least. Advent stayed staring at it before cutting himself a piece and sliding it on a plate with a fork. He sat at the counter and took a piece of the slice and had a taste.
Given it was poorly iced he didn't expect it to taste all that great then again with Hope having what seemed and endless talented gene pool and the golden child status to a company that it would not come as a surprise to him that she could bake.
His lack of hunger was replaced by the new surge of anger made him go up to his room and shut the door before laying in bed and slowly cry himself to sleep.
