She looked so adorable in those blue jeans and black t-shirt. Her dark brown hair flowed down the the lower part of her back as she stood in front of the sink. "It feels like I'm washing the same dishes over and over again, Jason." Brooke stated, a hint of frustration in her voice. Water splashed onto the dishes and refracted thin mist back up into the air.
"Well... Yeah. When did you think they had changed?" I teased, looking up from the pay voucher I was currently working on.
"Jason." She replied sternly, shaking the water hose she held in her hand. "Don't tempt me."
I stood up from my work, moved the light wooden chair I'd been sitting on and walked slowly over toward her. I grinned at her, challenging her to make a move. "I would never wish to tempt you..." I began mockingly as I cautiously strode further over behind her. "Here. What do you need help with?" I wrapped her up in my arms.
Brooke relaxed and sunk deeper into my grasp, "I'm so lucky to have yo..." Her sentence was immediately interrupted by the front door flying open.

"Daddy, Mommy! We're home!" screamed Jesse and Beth as they burst through the door.
I released grip of Brooke to turn to my little angels and offered them my arms.
"Hey, look at my favorite girls. How was school?"
"Beth spilled her lunch milk on my dress today, Dad!" Jesse began. Her deep blue dress had a little crisp and crusty dark blob about the size of my hand covering her left ribs.
"That's cause Jesse tripped me when I was going to throw it away!" Retorted Beth.
Staying alert I saw the opportunity to stop the conflict before it began. "Girls, girls! You know what I think you both need?" I asked mysteriously.
"Ice cream!" Jesse and Beth screamed in unison.
I smirked. That was just like them; a typical and frequent request. "Go put your books and bags away and help your mom wash the dishes so we can eat some delicious frozen dairy!" I bargained.
"We're on it daddy!" The girls stated, jumping right into action. They turned and bolted out of the room. I heard the pounding of their feet above my head on the stairs.

"That was pretty sly, Jason." Brooke smiled.
"You love me." I smiled back.
