Harry shuffled away from Louis, his cheeks burning a bright red. Louis turned to Harry, mouthing a quick “I’m sorry” before turning to face his friend.
“What the fuck is going on?” Jack questioned, pushing Harry back up against the wall. Harry remained quiet, his eyes scanning Louis for some help of what to do, but just the same Louis too was quiet, lost in a sea of his own thoughts of how in God’s name he could even begin to explain this.
“I said, what the fuck is going on?” Jack asked again, his tone growing harsher as he looked back at who he considered to be his best friend.
“I... I.” Louis started, looking around uncomfortably. He had planned on not coming out for awhile and especially not under such pressuring circumstances, so he did the one thing he did best as an athlete and that was run. Louis looked at Jack then to Harry before taking off down the hallway not once looking back.
Harry stood at the end of the hallway, watching Louis speed off as his friend held his shoulder firmly up against the wall. Harry slightly understood Louis was not ready for such a conflict in his life to arise so he didn’t dare feel anger towards Lou, more of sadness though at the fact it’ll take him awhile to come to terms with himself as a person.
“I’m going to tell you once, and only once. Louis is not a fag like you Styles alright? Whatever you fucking pulled down here before will not happen again or I will do worse then just humiliate you in front of your boy crush alright?” Harry nodded silently, his head hanging low trying to do the best thing he knew how to do and that was act. Harry knew he had won over Louis, he knew he had the boy of his dreams he just needed to play this sorry sap act until this jack ass left. He released his grip from Harry’s shoulders and walked back into the auditorium, harry quickly walking away from the area before he had time to come back.
“Did you hear what he sang in there?” Harry heard a girl whisper as he passed by a group girls huddled near some lockers.
“What a fag... Can’t believe he’d try going after Louis of all people... He’d have no chance!” The comments continued even as he walked further and further away, their rude remarks cluttering his thoughts as he searched for Lou. He passed down the hallway, but as he suspected there was no sign of him. Harry looked back and fourth awkwardly, unsure as of where to go now. A door a few meters away began to creak, a small maroon beanie peaking out. Harry walked into the room, Louis was curled up in the dark room, his back pressed up against the wall, tear stains prominent on his cheeks. He sat beside him, letting his large legs stretch out far past Louis’ shorter one’s, his arm placed around Lou’s back holding him close.
Louis loved the feeling of Harry around him, though he held Lou as if he was broken, and in many ways he was. His family life sucked to put it in best terms, his grades were poor, the stress of sports scholarships building up slowly all over time and now, the fact he had finally accepted he was gay was all too much. The stress and uncertainties was enough to drive any seemingly sane person completely mad. Louis sobbed, choking on his tears in quiet hiccups every time he had went to say something. He’d given up on words and just sat their letting Harry hold him, knowing he didn’t need to talk for Harry to help him through this.
“I’m sorry.” Harry whispered quietly, brushing Louis’ loose fringe back into place under his beanie. Louis shook his head, Harry had no reason to be sorry, none at all.
“D-Did Jack do anythi-ng?” Lou said, hiccuping mid word. Harry this time shook his head no, soothing Louis’ nerves.
“I am fine, he didn’t do much.” Harry consoled, trying to ease Louis’ racing mind.
“Everything will end up perfectly fine.” Harry said again, as if to reassure not only Louis but himself also.
