Praise the world. Here is chapter six. I officially have full custody over this book. I'll continue editing the other chapters later.
I would say I found the entrance in a matter of minutes, got Sobek, and I was on my way home.
But is that true?
Of course not. Life is never that easy.
Queen Oasis' palace was quite confuzziling. (I made up the word. Don't judge). The endless curved structure, the creepy heads sticking out of the walls. But as the more I circled, the more I noticed how the palace resembled Burn's striking personality. Surely Queen Oasis wouldn't want her palace like this.
Then I remembered the sickening news; Oasis was dead.
As I veered closer, I saw the small silhouettes of SandWings taking down the dead dragon heads.
Hmmm. Maybe Oasis wasn't dead. Had Burn put up a fight and tried to take over the castle?
I watched eagerly as one tiny SandWing snatched a head and soared towards what looked like a way in.
Bingo.
I tried extremely hard to make my scales look absolutely like the sky. My wings hugged my body, and I dove for the small entryway.
Surprisingly, there were no guards posted around the entrance. I eagerly marched in, ready to find Sobek.
I lowered my body to the ground, even though I knew I could be easily spotted. I attempted to turn my scales to the dullest color of green.
"Where are you, Sobek?" I whispered. I scurried around on the ground, trying to make the least possible noise (not working well).
"Did you hear something?" A deep male voice asked.
"No." Another male voice answered.
"I swear I heard something. It was like claws scraping the ground."
"Pfft." The other guard laughed. "Dragons live here, Sandstorm. Of course there's going to be claws scraping the stone."
My heart pounded in my chest. I pressed myself up against the cold stone floor. There was only one way to get out of this, and it was a dang risky idea.
The dragon, Sandstorm, huffed angrily. "It's not that-"
I stepped around the corner, and waved my pale wings. "Hey, boys."
Sandstorm and the other dragon stopped in their tracks, their jaws wide open. Sandstorm had a long, jagged scar running across his left eye.
"Who are you?" he questioned.
"I'm...." I racked my brain for a SandWing name. "I'm Emu. Yeah. Emu. That's me."
Both SandWings glanced at each other.
"I'm Rattlesnake," the SandWing introduced. "This is Sandstorm."
"I've never seen you before? Why are you green and blue?" Sandstorm asked.
Shoot. I was screwed. "Well, I'm actually here for come something. More like someone. Could you point me in the direction of Sobek? I'm his.....uh...executioner."
"You didn't answer my question." Sandstorm frowned. "Why do you look weird?"
"I ate a bad bug," I said quickly. "It turns your scales odd colors?"
Rattlesnake grumbled some nasty words, but didn't say anything loudly.
"Where's Sobek?" I asked yet again.
