Chicago, December 18 1868
Walking through Chicago, confused with what had just happened I decided to go to Gloria's bar to think. As I walked inside the empty bar I heard quite voices in the back. Probably the bartenders I thought, just then I saw Gloria walk to the front of the bar, smiling as soon as she saw me "What brings you here, Juliette?" She asked, "He keeps finding me everywhere I go." I murmur softly wishing he would give up already. "Well," she said "Y'alls love story is legendary, why would you wanna let that go so easily?" I was quiet for a moment before responding,"I didn't, for so long I would've done anything to just see him let alone find out he still cared, but I'm coping and I feel as if though I just might be okay without him. Now he decides to show up wherever I go and I've built such a high wall, just to let it tumble down." "Maybe it's time hon, you never open up to anyone besides me, and you visit like once a year. It's okay to let your guard down." I thought about what she said for a while, while she walked to the back of the bar. In the end I decided not to let my guard down. He left, not me and he always knew how stubborn I was. If he wants me to let my guards down he has to earn my trust, I thought. Just then the bell rang signaling that someone had walked in. Knowing fully well it was him I sighed. "When are you gonna stop following me ?" I asked angrily, "Whenever you stop running from me." He replied quickly, with a soft tone."Sit" I said as I patted the stool next to me. He did as told and we were in silence for a while before I broke it "Why?" I asked sadly remembering the day exquisitely. "I had no choice", he responded. His reply angered me, "Everyone has a choice," I said quickly. "My brother found out where I was and I knew if he found out you were the reason I was there for so long he'd harm you to get to me, so I left as soon as I could" he spoke quietly. Then it was silent beside the quiet humming of the bartenders talking in the back. " I've changed, I'm not the same as I used to be ." I said as I walked out the bar not looking back , with a smirk on my face . Not running away, just simply leaving him and I to think alone.
Who do you want the guy to be ?
