we heard gunshots.
everyone started screaming. i looked around quickly and saw my bros down on the floor. they glanced at me and gestured me to get down.
i saw my old buddy xander on the floor looking lifeless. i was in shock. he got shot. the girl beside me tapped me out of my trace. she pointed at kayla.
kayla pointed to the stairs and we all went slowing and sneaky to a room. we shut the door and locked it.
i stared at the floor still in shock.
"hello 911, we heard gunshots at this house party the address is...."
"bro....that wasn't our buddy xander from freshman year right..?" devin said slowly.
i left out a sigh and nodded my head.
he looked shocked and laid his head low. daniel stayed shut in the corner. he must've took it real hard cause we were all so close.
*bang bang* someone pounded on the door.
our eyes widen as we didn't make a sound.
"it's the police! is anyone in there!?"
we opened the door hella quick.
"is everyone okay? anybody wounded?" they asked.
"no. but our friend got shot! he's down there." i said freaking out.
"they brought him to an ambulance, he looks like he's in critical condition, you'll have to go see at the hospital tomorrow." one of the cops said.
"do you know who had the gun sir?" devin asked.
"yes, it was a couple of the gang members of the east side of this town, we arrested some, but a lot of them got away."
we shook our head listening to their information.

"let's go home." i said tired.
"okay." daniel said following me outside.
we waited for devin to come out.
"hey thanks." the girl said standing next to me outside.
"for what?" i asked.
"for telling the guy to back off." she said.
"oh that? no problem shorty." i said weakly smiling.
"here's my number, call me sometime." she said handing me a piece of paper.
she smiled and walked away into kayla's house, rubbing her bare arms.
"ayo! let's get outta here." devin said hopping into the car.
