Loki had trained every day and every night since the day he was humiliated. He trained with Hamdur for a while but it seemed he just wasn't making any progress with him so he stopped.

Loki had become aware by now that he couldn't learn to fight the same way the others did. He started to watch the way the young asgardians trained. After a while he began to be able to determine what a fighter was going to do next.

From they're expressions and mannerisms he knew whether they were going to punch or kick, when they were going to fakeout and when they were going to give up.

At night when everyone was gone, he would create replicas of the future warriors and simulate fighting them.

He was very good at mimicking personalities and mannerisms and was able to translate that skill into his copies. When he practiced with them it was almost like fighting the real thing.

He knew what he wanted and he was very focused and determined in getting it.

The only thing that seemed to distract him was Sif the daughter of Lord Ausdun and Lady Asta.

When Sif first came to the training grounds she provoked a bit of laughter and a lot of confusion.

They were receiving a group instruction from Hamdur when she walked in.

"What are you doing here little girl", Hamdur said, are you lost.

"I'm here to train", she said confidently, "what do I do first".

As soon as she said the words there was a sudden burst of laughter.

Now girls did train in Asgard, it was just not a lot of them. The girls that usually trained were usually born with a special ceremonial purpose or function. These girls were girls like Baldur's friend Valkyrie who is supposed to escort the fallen warriors to Vallhalla when she comes of age.

The girls usually had a special crest or symbol to show that they were different just like the asgardian princes had.

Sif however was not one of those girls. She was just an ordinary asgardian girl. Well not completely ordinary, her father was a lord.

Volstagg walked up to her and crouched a little so he could look her in the eye.

Loki knew that though Volstagg was very large he was very tame. He was big and friendly and tried to be as kind as possible but that didn't mean you would want to take him on in a fight.

"Wouldn't you rather make flower garlands with the other girls."Volstagg said good naturedly. He probably thought he was being helpful.

It was clear to Loki though that she took immediate offence.

She gave Volstagg a withering look and punched him straight in the stomache.

"Why don't you go make some flower garlands. she said defiantly."

Ever since then Loki was intrigued by her. But since his humiliation he hardly ever looked her in the eye and spoke few words to her.

She became one of Thor's closest friends along with Volstagg and Fandryl.

Sif had forgiven Volstagg after he apologized, she found out he meant no harm with his words and was just a bit oblivious, they had become great friends.

Thor had Sif, Fandryl and Volstagg while Baldur had Hoder and Valkyrie. The difference between the two groups was that Thor and his friends were always getting into trouble and Loki always had to talk them out of it.

He never went with them when they went off, not that he was invited. Instead he continued to improve his skill.

Emotions so easily clouded peoples judgement and he had learnt how to use this to his advantage.
