I twisted the key and pushed down the door handle. I smiled, knowing that this was nothing but a new beginning for both of us. The door opened and I felt Amara holding my hand. I looked down at her and smiled. She smiled back and together we took our first step inside. The house wasn't as cozy as I thought it would be, but I had saved up enough to make it look ten times more better.

I left out suitcases in the living room and together Amara and I set on to look around. I was told that the house had three rooms and that they were rather poorly decorated. First we found ourselves in the kitchen. It was a dusty and empty place. It didn't look as bad as I thought it would. I knew that I would be able to make this house much better once all our stuff arrived.

"Mum," Amara called me. I looked at her. "Will we get all our stuff today?" she asked.

I nodded. I looked at the empty room. At least the walls looked decent. "Yes, honey. I was told that we would get out stuff within five to six hours." I looked back at her and grinned. "It's amazing, isn't it? Having a home that is ours."

Amara nodded. "It is. I just wish Dad could be with us." I felt a pang in my heart at the mention of his name. I swallowed and avoided eye contact. Amara tugged at my shirt. "I'm sorry, mum. I didn't mean to hurt you." she said in a sad, low voice.

I smiled at her and kneeled down in front of her. I ran a hand through her hair. "It's fine, honey. You could never hurt me." I said and hugged her small figure.

She giggled and hugged be back. Once we were done with hugging it out, Amara and I went further with exploring. We reached the first bedroom and I was impressed by the way it looked. Seemed as if the owner actually did take good care of this house. It contained a one person bed that was against the wall, a back closet, a desk with a chair, and another table that seemed like a TV stand.

"This is going to be your room, sweetie." I said.

"Really?" Amara gasped happily. "I love it!"

"I'm glad you do." I watched her admiringly.

We continued looking around. The other room was just plain. That we were going to use as the guest room. The next room was going to be mine. It contained a queen-sized bed, a dressing table, a closet, also a desk and there was a huge rug on the floor. There was also this huge mirror on the wall, which I really liked.

We continued looking around the two bathrooms, the kitchen, the living room, and the study. Suddenly we heard a honk outside and I frowned as we walked out of the house. I looked at the man who was now taking out our stuff out the van.

"I thought you'd be here after a few hours." I said as I helped getting the boxes out.

"Yes, we thought, but we got here earlier." I nodded and placed the box in the big living room.

After everything was out of the van, the men helped me get everything in place and left after waving one last time. I looked around. The couches were in place, the TV was in place. Everything looked as neat as it could get for today.

"Mum, I'm tired." Amara tugged onto my sleeve.

I smiled at her. "Sure, honey. But have you eaten for today?" I asked.

"Yes. I ate on the way home when you were asleep in the car." She looked up at me.

I took her hand in mine. "Very well, then. You can get yourself a nice shower and hop into bed."

She hugged me and went off to get her shower. I went to the kitchen and made myself a sandwich since I was starving. I turned on the TV and waited for Amara to get out of the shower. Once she was out, I left the sandwich on the coffee table and went to help her put on her clothes. Once that was done, she hopped into bed and I covered her body with the blanket.

She closed her eyes and I sang to her until she fell asleep. I kissed her forehead and went back to the living room. I finished the sandwich and placed the plate in the sink. I decided that I'd just get myself some sleep and shower in the morning. I turned off the lights and made my way to my room after checking up one last time on Amara.

I opened the box with my clothes and stripped out of my clothes before wearing the blue floor-length nightgown. I yawned as I released my hair out of the bun. I sighed. It had been a long day. I smiled to myself. It was finally a new beginning for both, Amara and I.

Suddenly I heard a tap and I frowned. I looked at the glass windows, thinking it was that. I saw nothing, but I was sure it was a tap on glass. I stared at the window, wondering what was going on. Suddenly I heard a tap again and then I realized the sound wasn't coming from the window, but from the mirror.

I looked at the mirror, hearing the tap several times. I got up from the bed and walked up from the mirror. How was this even possible? I was the only one in the room. Suddenly I heard another tap and a scream left my mouth the moment I saw a hand appear on the other side of the mirror.

What was going on?
