Ella's POV:
"a casual affair"
The persistent sweat running down my forehead wasn't helping my situation in the slightest. My feet were in a constant rhythmic pace of up and down, and the feeling that I could pass out at any second was dominant.
Just hand him the package. It was as simple as that, I was to wait for a signal, follow the man outside and give him the package in the most discreet manner possible. Shifting impatiently in the wooden chair sat at a small table, my eyes shifted around the café waiting for the stranger to arrive.
Taking a small sip of the now cold coffee, I stopped, observing the small wrap on my fingers. My mind wandered back to two days ago when I had the very brief phone call with a very unpleasant man.
'Sit down and order something. You don't want to seem suspicious.' Which is exactly what I did as soon as I had entered the small café. Letting out an anxious breath, my head instantly snapped up upon hearing the sound of bells, signaling someone had entered.
Jay walked in with another man, both covered in black attire. Talk about bluntly suspicious. His eyes travelled around the sea of people landing on mine. He sent a small smile in my direction, causing the person who he was with to turn around.
My heart instantly froze, as soon as the ocean blue eyes locked with mine. It was one of Harry's friends...Louis I think his name was. Whispering something to Jay, both turned back towards me and headed in my direction.
"Ella." Louis addressed as if I had done something terribly wrong. No words escaped my mouth; I didn't know what I was supposed to say. Shifting my eyes to look at Jay for any indications of what I was to do next, I was slightly startled when Louis spoke up once again.
"Do you guys know each other?" Apparently the small exchange between Jay and I hadn't gone unnoticed. Louis looked at me impatience clear, as he waited for an answer. Once again my eyes shifted to Jay's and he held one finger to his lips telling me to keep quiet about it.
"No." I finally answered, although by the way Louis was glancing back and forth between the two of us made me think he saw right through my bullshit.
"I'm going to get coffee." Jay spoke, quickly walking away. I was slightly curious as to why he would've left me alone with Louis, when he so obviously didn't want him to know we knew eachother. Watching him saunter off, he walked straight past the counter sitting down at a table with a man who looked like he was at least 30 years old. Maybe he was the person I was supposed to give the package too.
"What happened to your hand?" Shifting my attention back to Louis, I quickly looked down, pulling the sleeve of my sweater over the wrap.
"I...fell." He didn't look the least bit convinced and neither was I. It had come out more of a question than an actual fact.
"He won't be happy about that."
"Who?" Louis rose one eyebrow up as if to say 'you know who.'
"How do you know him?" He avoided my question all together, deciding instead to ask more of his own.
"I told you I don't, why are you even here?" Louis simply laughed as if he knew something that I hadn't.
"Naïve." My eyes flicked up to his, and I couldn't help but feel annoyed by his assumptions. I was about to speak up and reply with some sarcastic comment before something caught my attention through the corner of my eye.
The man who was previously sitting with Jay had gotten up heading towards the front door. Jay's eyes caught mine and with a slight nod of his head I knew this had been what I was waiting for.
