Elanor raced down to the end of her long, winding driveway. Perched atop her mailbox was a boy her age carrying a broomstick a lot like her own. "Lee!""Hey Elle!""Ready to beat our parents?" "Yeah, where's Livy?" "Inside cleaning her broom," replied the brown-haired girl. Lee's expression became serious. "Ellie, if we get in, our letters should be here soon.""Don't be such a worry-wart! Of course we'll get in.""No, we won't.""Yes, we will."An older blonde girl flew up to them on a broomstick like theirs. "You guys ready to beat 'em?" "Yeah, duh!" they exclaimed in unison.
***********************************************************************************************"All right. Go!" Mrs. Jordan tossed their Quaffle into the air. Elanor caught it. Mr. Smith soared nearer and nearer, but at the last possible second, she passed to Lee, who passed to Olivia, who passed it back to Elanor. Elanor and Lee zoomed directly at the goalposts on the parents end of the field. Elanor passed to Lee, who scored. After an hour of playing, they finally ended the game 100-90, kids' favor. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Jordan went inside and cooked, Mr. Smith and Mr. Jordan set up a table, and the three kids raced laps. After a delicious supper, the Jordans left. "Dibs on shower!" called Olivia. She flew up to the house's open second story window, (the girls' huge bedroom/game room, with a normal-sized bathroom) and climbed through. Elanor followed her. "Aaaaaddyyyyy!" A magnificent tawny owl soared in just behind her. Elanor hastily scribbled a note to Lee. Lee, Can you come over tomorrow? I want to play one-a-side. Elanor S. "There you go!" Addy grabbed the letter in her beak, and glided over to Lee's. Next door, Elanor could see him reading it. He gave her the thumbs-up. She copied him, with a big smile. Elanor absolutely loved Quidditch. Elanor and Lee began to talk in a made-up sign language. What time, motioned Lee.10:30, replied Elanor. OK. See you. Bye.After apple cider, Elanor and Olivia hurried into their room. Both girls had a loft bed with a built-in nightstand, and a magical lamp (No electricity needed!). Their personal books were underneath their beds, along with a Muggle computer, and a rack for their brooms. Separating the beds was a huge "library" of the books they'd collected, from both the Muggle and the Wizarding World.Olivia grabbed her copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and climbed up to her bed. Elanor selected Quidditch Through the Ages. After a completely silent hour, Olivia closed her blackout curtains, turned off her lamp, and was soon snoozing. Elanor closed her curtains, but kept her lamp on. However, after another hour, she fell asleep with her lamp still on. "Elanor.""Mmmm.""Elanor, wake up.""Ugh, what time is it?" "9:30, now hurry, get dressed and go eat, Lee'll be here soon."Lee! Elanor sat bolt upright in bed. She'd honestly forgotten all about him coming over. "Okay, I'm coming."Olivia snorted. "You'd better be."Elanor rolled her eyes as she clambered down the ladder. She pulled on a blue T-shirt and jeans and scurried down the stairs. After a hastily eaten breakfast, Elanor dashed out to meet Lee."You ready to be beaten?" she challenged. "Nah, the question is, are you?""Elanor! Lee! They're here! "The kids looked at each other. "Told you so," Elanor teased."Oh, shut up."Elanor grinned and dashed toward the house, closely followed by Lee.

"We got in, Mum!" "Oh, that's wonderful, Lee! You too, Elanor?" "Yeah!" "Congrats, kids," called out Mr. Jordan."Thanks!" they replied."Oh, and I came to ask you, wanna come over for dinner?" Elanor added."Well, sure." "Great! See you!" "See you Ellie!"
***********************************************************************************************After another delicious supper, everyone relaxed, watching the stars.
"Mum, Mrs. Jordan, can we go to Diagon Alley?" Elanor queried.
"Tomorrow we will," they promised."Yippee!" exclaimed all three kids. "We're first years now," added Lee proudly. "Yes, and I'm a seventh year and Head Girl.""Shut up, Olivia."That night, Elanor couldn't sleep. She would be going to Diagon Alley as a student for the first time, not merely 'Olivia's little sister'. She could hardly wait.
