A spring day in the province of Ordona. In Faron Wood is where we find our lead. A mop of blond upon his head, a littler of freckles on his cheeks, and his ears coming to a point. He's just the kind of guy to take a walk through the woods on a sunny day like this. Link is his name and he is a ranch hand in a nearby village by the name of Ordon. He's very good with different sorts of animals ranging from his horse and goats to the nearby clan of monkeys of Faron. As he walks along the dusty dirt path he admirers the scenery. Ever flower bush is blooming and every tree is growing fruit. All is well until from the corner of his eye he spies a white tuft of feathers. Link runs over to find a baby white chickadee with badly broken wings. He scoops it up and looks up for a nest but he finds nothing. Odd, the bird did not look old enough to even attempt flight. He cupped it into his hands and ran home.
Inside he places the unmoving bird on the counter, he runs about his home to create two make shift casts. He knew how to deal with injuries when it came to birds. His pet hawk by the name of Rebin has gotten many injuries before, but this bird was on a much smaller scale. Link sighed, putting the wings in their slings and hoped the bird would wake. The next day Link heard a small chirp from the kitchen. He ran over to see the bird open its eyes and look at him. It jumped up but quickly looked at its wings. Link inched his hand closer to the bird, which the bird pecked at to test him. Link smiled at the feathered creature and put his hand out for him to jump onto. The chickadee did and Link brought a finger to his head and gently rubbed. The bird leaned into the pet and closed its eyes.
Soon enough the bird had healed their wings and was freed from their makeshift cast. Link observed the white mass of feathers hop about and flap its wings across the dining table. The bird jumped it's way onto Link's arm when he sat down and say on his shoulder. When Link would lean over the bird would jump on his head where it perched happily. Link dubbed the chickadee "Pit" because its favorite play thing was a dried plum pit they had found on the counter.
Link took Pit outside with him to call down his hawk, Rebin. He introduced the two birds and Rebin was well trained enough not to see Pit as prey. Rebin looked him over and stretched out his wings to show off. Link carried them both to a bench to sit them at. Pit looked up at the hawk and stretched his smaller wingspan as well. He chirped as the hawk nuzzles the top of his head. Link instructs Rebin to teach Pit to fly. They get into place and start to flap their wings. The hawk jumps and flys upwards. Pit on the other hand never got lift. He fell into Link's palm. Rebin and Pit tried again, and again, and again.
Rusl, a father figure to Link, walks over. "Hey Link!" Link smiles but quickly turns back around to catch the falling chickadee. Rusl frowns and puts his hand out for the white bird. Link lets Pit hop from his palm to Rusl's. Rusl then gently extends his wingspan to point out his flawed wings, "He seems like he's been injured..." Link nodded and pointed where Pit had hurt his wings. The older male sighed, "Link, this little guy won't be able to fly. His wings won't work right." Link took Pit back in his hands and set Rebin back out into the sky with a treat for his efforts. Link pouted down at the chickadee but the bird looked up at him with happy eyes. He went back home to set up a permanent home for Pit. He'd keep him safe since he can't fend for himself. Link took an old cage and cleaned it up for the newest addition to his animal family. Pit meanwhile bathed in a bowl of water to clean up from his tiring attempts at flight. Link filled the home with all the fixings and introduced the now washed bird to it. Pit found comfort in the blanket nest in the corner and perched on the twig Link attached inside. He chirped happily and lay in the nest.
Link spent lots of time with Pit. As he worked on the ranch he sat on top of Link's goat Yami's horns. When Link socialized about Pit would sit on his head and peep at anyone who got near his blond, as if sending them warning that he'd attack in defense for Link. As Link cleaned and cooked in his home Pit would sing for him and Link would whistle back. Nightfall curtained over he village and Link got ready for bed. He locked Pit into his cage and covered it with a blanket to keep it insulated. He went off to bed and slept peacefully.
CRASH
CLANG
Link shot up out of his bed at a loud noise. He rubbed his eyes and reached for his sword. He walked into the kitchen, ready to strike. He looked around for Pit but couldn't find the cage. His blue eyes widened when he was met with a boy, about his age, in the cage. The boy looked up at him with wide eyes. The new boy was brown haired and had a small body. He was covered in the blanket Link used to cover the cage. He looked up at the Hylian and smiled nervously. "H-hi! Please let me out of here...?"
Link rushed the boy and glared angrily. The brunet shrunk down, "I'm sorry!" Link's gaze softened as he eyes the scared boy. He kneeled down and in hinged the cage. The brunet stretched out. White wings spread wide, capturing Link's attention. He smiled at the boy. The winged boy blushed, "Oh. Forgive me for not introducing myself. I'm Pit, your bird." Link leaned closer and put out his index finger, Pit leaned in till the finger touched his forehead. This was something only Link did with him. It was him. Link's eyes widened and an eyebrow raised. "I became a real boy because of your good deeds for me. But the angel thing is because..." Link tilted his head and smiled, wishing Pit to go on. Pit took a deep breath, "Because...I fell in love with you..."
Link smiled blushed. Pit nodded, "You're so kind and very handsome." Link leaned in close, bringing a bigger blush to Pit's face. Pit sighed and gave Link a peck on the lips. Link blushed and cupped Pit's face. Their lips united once again and they wrapped their arms around one another. Pit's wings flapped happily and rested on Link's back, enveloping them in a feathery cocoon. They pulled away and blushed. "Aren't you freaked out? I mean I was just a chickadee last night!?" Pit asked as his wings folded behind him. The blond shook his head and smiled. Pit's sky blue eyes lit up and he giggled, throwing his arms around Link's neck, "Oh thank the gods! I love you so much Link!" Link holds the angel tightly and kisses his cheek. They both sit on the kitchen floor for what they hope is forever.
