The Summer Solstice Eclipse.
The most important night for the Sky Fairies.Every fairy was preparing for the Summer Solstice Eclipse. The Eclipse was a celebration to recharge the moon and sun for another year. It was also when the Eclipse Fairies returned to the heart of the Sky Fairy universe to meet up and discuss important matters that had happened in the Constellation Galaxy over the year.
Queen Stargazer looked out her balcony as all the fairies bustled around getting final preparations ready for the special night. Stargazer's long, straight, silvery hair flowing as fairies flew past her. Soon, Stargazer would reunite with her sister, Moonspeaker and the Eclipse Fairies for another Summer Solstice Eclipse meeting.
"Your majesty." Stargazer's messenger, Opal appeared behind her, "It's time to go, are you ready?"
"Yes, thank you Opal, lead the way." Stargazer followed Opal down the castle hallway.
Before they left, Stargazer checked her neck to make sure her shooting star shaped locket is there. The locket held all the main power to the Kingdom of Star Crystal.
Once at the exit, Opal and Stargazer took flight to the moon. As Stargazer flew, she noticed a glimpse of the Eclipse Fairies entering the kingdom. Stargazer flew straight to her sister, who was leading the pack. Like Stargazer, Moonspeaker's long, silky raven hair blew in the wind, her dress the same colour as her hair with little silver specks sparkling here and there. Moonspeaker's deep violet wings top off her royal outfit.
"Greetings sister, welcome back to Star Crystal. How was your flight?" Stargazer asks as she hugs Moonspeaker.
"Just like every trip we've taken, nothing changes." Moonspeaker says, pulling away from Stargazer.
"Stargazer, I appreciate the welcome, but you know I hate hugs."
Stargazer stared at Moonspeaker. Her expression is cold.
"Right! I keep forgetting, my mistake dear sister." Stargazer apologizes as she stares intently into her Moonspeaker's eyes."There's something odd about Moonspeaker." Stargazer thought immediately. "I can see it in her eyes, normally they're a vibrant purple, today they're as dark as her wings."
"Now, dear sister, shall we start the ceremony? I'm eager to start the eclipse." Moonspeaker turns to start heading to the balcony on top of the moon.
"Moonspeaker!? We need to have our meeting before the ceremony! You know that!" Stargazer calls before she chases her sister up to the top of the moon.
"Oh! That silly conversation. There's nothing to report. Everything's the same!" Moonspeaker says as she raises her hands up into the air, purple sparks appear out of her hand.
"Moonspeaker! Why are you so eager to start the ceremony?" Stargazer calls as she catches up to her sister.
Moonspeaker turned around, "I Just want to get it over with. We've done the same things so many years now. I just want to change it up... You understand, right dear sister?"
Stargazer is stunned. "What had gotten into her!?"
"Nothing's gotten into me Stargazer! Why would you think that?" Moonspeaker answers.Stargazer stares at Moonspeaker, jaw dropped. "Did she just read my mind? How long has she been able to do that?"
"I've ALWAYS been able to do that sister, I've just never told anyone." Moonspeaker replied.
Stargazer didn't know what to say. "You've always told me your secrets Moonspeaker, we tell each other every-""Anyways, I wanted to ask you a quick question Stargazer."
"Um, okay. What did you want?"
"Can I borrow your locket?"
"WHAT!? Moonspeaker, you know we can't do that! Fairy lockets are for the fairy queen that they're made for! Who knows what would happen? If you had both lockets!?"
"Yes, I understand that, but nobody has tested if anything dangerous happens with two lockets."
Stargazer blocks her neck with her hands. "Moonspeaker, who are you? You've never acted like this before, how can you read minds? Why do you have such an interest in my locket all of a sudden? What's going on?!"
But, before Stargazer could do anything else, Moonspeaker's cold hands wrap around Stargazer's, and pulls them away from her neck, to reveal her locket. Moonspeaker rips it off, and blasts Stargazer across the balcony with a purple ball of energy.
Stargazer, collapsed on the floor, weak and shaking. Tears glistening on her face.
Moonspeaker cackles evilly, she dangles her sisters locker in front of her face.
"Oh dear, what a shame... Poor Queen Stargazer won't get to see her kingdom turn to darkness!""MY SISTER WOULD NEVER DO THIS! WHO ARE YOU?!" Stargazer's voice cracks.
Moonspeaker doesn't acknowledge her weak sister, she just shoots her hands into the air. With both her crescent moon locket and her sister's shooting star locket, her powers were stronger than ever!
"Moon, stars, sun, clouds."
"We don't need them!"
"There's too much light in the world!"
"I command my powers to..." "SHATTER THE MOON!" "SHATTER THE SUN!" "SHATTER EVERY LAST BIT OF LIGHT IN THIS WORLD!""ENJOY YOUR COLD AND DARK LITTLE WORLD!"
Moonspeaker laughs hysterically as she shatters the moon into multiple shards raining down on the world, sending all of Star Crystal into darkness.
Moonspeaker shoots up into the galaxy back to her kingdom, eager to watch all the damage that has been done from her castle.
As Stargazer fades away, She uses the last bit of her power to send one final message...
"Opal, find the Star Child... She's our only hope."
