As I stepped off the private jet at Girona, the warm summer air hit me. It wasn't as humid as I thought it would be, in fact, it was a pleasant afternoon. The kind of heat that makes you feel warm from the inside. But not enough to make you perspire in the smallest of crannies.

"Miss Watts, what do you think of your first destination?" "It's lovely, the heat isn't too bad either. " " Today is supposed to be much cooler than it would be on any other July afternoon. You may need your shorts tomorrow if it does get to 30 degrees!" " Oh, I didn't pack any shorts. I didn't think I would have the time to go lounging around at the beach." He laughed. " Of course you will, our first meeting isn't until tomorrow. I thought we could check the hotel facilities first. We can't buy anything without trying first. After all, £3million for a hotel in Spain is quite pricey." I felt a little uncomfortable at the thought of 'checking out the facilities' with him. Does he mean I will have to be in the same Jacuzzi as him? Of course not. At least not at the same time, I am sure.

As his Executive Assistant, I had to make sure I was aware of everything the properties we visit had to offer. This also included learning about the local area, tourist population and best places for everything. Basically, I had to have installed a tour guide in my brain. Not an easy task to do if you have never been to the place before. Thank God for Google!

We barely spent 10 minutes at the airport, rich people have better and faster custom access I suppose. Or maybe, it has something to do with the private jet. There is so much for me to learn about this new life.

'Landed safely and now making our way to the hotel. Love you. xxx' I decided to send the text to mum before she starts worrying. That was her number one rule, I had to give her quick updates to let her know I was okay. Or face the wrath of mum's anger.

Jack the driver, loaded the brand new Mercedes S-Class with our luggage and Alex opened the car door for me. I know he was just being polite, but damn, that made me feel like royalty!" Thank you." He followed behind and sat next to me. " So, one of the few issues we have with this hotel is customer service. The building itself is brilliantly located on Avenida Diaz Pacheco and has recently been refurbished to very high standards. I saw the improvements first hand on my last holiday here." " Oh, I wasn't aware that you have been here for a holiday before. Does that mean you know what you are looking for in terms of potential changes?" "In a way, I do. As it stands, it's just another 5-star hotel. I want it to be much more, something people will remember for years and visit again." " I see." Actually, I didn't see. If he already knew what he wanted to do with the hotel, why did he need me here? Maybe he just needed a woman's opinion? That's silly, there are many women out there that will happy give him advice and much more. I grinned. " Something funny?" " Oh no. I just remembered something. Sorry." " Don't apologise, share the funny story instead." Crap. I can't really tell him I was imagining women doing all sorts to him instead of thinking about work. I took a few minutes to come up with something humorous. A memory, a joke, anything!

" I remembered the last time I was in Spain. I went swimming with my mother and managed to 'drown' myself in the pool." I quoted the word drown with my fingers. "In reality, I had a wardrobe malfunction and my bikini top had come off as I jumped into the pool. My mum being my mum, panicked and the lifeguard jumped in. What he thought was me struggling to breathe, was actually me trying to push him off me and avoid getting out of the pool." His thin lips broadened into a smile and I swear I heard him chuckle. We both just looked at each other and laughed.

" Are you excited about your first project?" " Oh gosh! Of course! I can't wait to see the hotel." He must have heard the excitement in my voice as he smiled again. " Good, I am very pleased to hear it. We should be arriving in about 10 minutes." "Pedro, the hotel's General Manager will be meeting us on arrival. I had an email exchange with him yesterday to ensure he was aware of everything." " Great. Do you have an itinerary for our day too?" " Oh, I didn't think you wanted me to plan anything for today as our meetings don't take place until tomorrow. I am sorry. If you like, I can put something together for us. Apart from your conference call later at 5pm with the American Brand Ambassador, your diary is pretty clear." I said in the most professional tone possible. I forgot I was actually getting paid to be here. "Don't worry. It's your first day on the job. Plus, we will both create your job role as the time goes on. For now, I would like you to cancel the conference call." "Should I give him any particular reason for the cancellation?" He looked at me as if I did something terrible. His eyes narrowed as if to say, ' you should know why I want to cancel the call'. I returned a look of confusion and worry. "Tell him I am taking you out for dinner, or make up a more appropriate excuse." My cheeks reddened in embarrassment. Did he really just say he was taking me out for dinner? or was he being sarcastic? "Okay.I will cancel the call." I popped my laptop open and sent a quick email to Walter, advising him the call was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. I thought it would be better if I keep things short, after all, Alex was his boss and the circumstance was unforeseen indeed. " Done." I said in a neutral tone to Alex. He was busy staring out of the window. I felt like an idiot for not putting something together for the day. I mean, how was I supposed to know?

"Do you like spicy food?" " Yes." " Great. There is a small restaurant that I frequent during my stays here. It's run by an elderly couple from a room that can only seat 6 customers at a time. Petra makes the best paella you will ever taste and makes it a little extra spicy for me. The recipe has been handed down 5 generations and not a single thing has changed. Apart from the extra paprika for my taste." " Sounds tasty. I look forward to trying it. Do I need to make a reservation?" " It's not necessary, they are already aware of our visit tonight. I assume 7pm isn't too late for you to eat?" He already planned dinner for us without asking? 'He is just trying to be nice. Stop over thinking!' I scolded myself. " Perfect. Gives me some time to take a quick nap and go swimming."
