I used my spare key to get inside.
"KIERA? IS THAT YOU?" Aunt Lynn bounded down the stairs and tripped over her own feet, landing at mine. I sighed and bent down, helping her up.
"Hello," I said in reply.
"Well, how did it go?" She was bouncing on the edge of her toes with energy. "Why'd you stay overnight? Did you...?"
Though thoroughly amused with her childish demeanor, I crossed my arms and gave her a look. "No, Auntie, I didn't! We just hung out! Seriously, what is with you people?" She laughed at me.
We both sat down, and she pulled me to her chest. "What was it like?" Her voice was softer now, full of a wistfulness I didn't know.
"Well, he's funny and cute and stubborn and so, so talented. And he cusses like a fucking sailor," I said, looking down at my hands.
Aunt Lynn sighed, and I looked over at her. "It's just like the way your uncle and I met."
I sat bolt upright. "No. I don't believe you. Really? Are you for real right now?" I was getting myself hyped up. "That is so cool."
She was completely straight-faced as she told me, "No. I was kidding."
"Argh!!" Stomping upstairs, I opened my phone for a check. Notifications, galore! One of them was from Josh.
