I opened my eyes to complete darkness, already used to waking up in these conditions I made my way over to the light switch turning it on; I got changed into my every day outfit which consisted of black camo pants, a black short sleeved t-shirt, black boots and a yellow bandana. Walking out of my room I walked into the food unit pouring myself a clear thick liquid into a cup before starting to drink as I sat down on the small table centred in to the middle of the room.
Jax walked into the room a short while after myself pressing some buttons on the food processor, which beeped after a couple of seconds, the metal door sliding upwards to reveal a full English breakfast with a cup of what I presumed was black coffee. “Why don’t you eat real food? That crap can’t taste good?” Jax questioned as he sat across from me casually taking a large gulp from his hot beverage. “It doesn’t have a taste, this is filled with extra protein, vitamins and it fits into all of the food categories that someone needs every day. And plus the order advise that I only have this.” I stated drinking the last bit of my drink, before placing the cup in the cleansing unit before sitting back down.
“You don’t have to do everything they say you know, you can have some leeway to eat proper food, to relax, to be normal and to socialise because we both know you need to work on that” Jax let out a sigh as he finished his small rant. I let my hair fall into my eyes as I calmly spoke “I’m not exactly normal though, am I Jax? I wasn’t raised like the rest of you; I was scientifically created to be better than humans, and it’s better to say nothing than talk about something useless.” I stood up quickly sending my chair flying into the wall. The loud bang caused Jax to look at me in shock “Scar I-” “I’m going to train, tell the tag where I am” I quickly cut him off walking out of the room, my face blank as I walked through the halls towards the training room my footsteps barely heard.
6 MONTHS LATER
“Come on Alura you can’t be getting tired already? We’ve only just begun” I teased as I quickly moved forward faking a jab to the head then bringing my knee up to her torso, but she jumped back at the last minute now keeping herself a large distance away from me, as she analysed my movements looking for any openings in my defence. “Good Alura, don’t relax always stay alert” I praised the little tag that I seem to have grown quite fond of over the last few months.
I had been training her every day and I was even happy enough for her to take over her own sector, she may be young but she is well prepared and I will carry on the training until I feel that she is ready to go it alone, but until then I will be helping her. “Alright that’s enough; you don’t want to be exhausted for tomorrow, there is a new shipment of prisoners and they may be feisty.” I tossed Alura a bottle of water while I grabbed a prepared bottle of my special protein liquid, taking a large gulp I instantly felt refreshed.
“Thanks Scar, I think I’m finally getting a hang of that move” I laughed as Alura gulped down all of the drink quickly causing for her to be breathless. “It’s no problem” I smiled as she nodded gratefully at me; I went to say something else before I heard the door slide open and heavy footsteps enter the room. I quickly straightened up, my face returning expressionless, my personality going back to my cold and commanding as I look towards Radar. I narrowed my eyes as looked over me before smirking and making his way towards me.
“Well, well, well if it isn’t little Scar, it seems she’s going soft now that she has a little adoptive sister” Rader pushed me on each word. I clenched then unclenched my fists forcing myself to calm down, knowing that if I hit him I wouldn’t be able to stop myself. “Good little girl, don’t get angry, wouldn’t want you to get into trouble or better yet scare the little brat that you have been mothering like a week pathetic being that you are, maybe I should give her some real training, maybe I’ll rough her up a bit” he snarled at me roughly grabbing my upper arm and squeezing. I let out a cruel laugh, allowing my hair to fall into my eyes as I lowered my head, “you are going to regret toughing me Radar, you know better than anyone else that you should obey the rules” I raised my fist in one fluid motion allowing my full strength to leak into the punch, I felt my scars glow as my blood boiled underneath making them pulse red. I forced my fist into his face making him crash into the wall.
I quickly made my way over to the groaning Radar; I grabbed him by the throat lifting him into the air, his feet slightly hovering off of the ground as I found satisfaction in the terrified look in his eyes and the choking noises as he scratched at my hand. “Scar stop it! You’re killing him!” I felt Alura stand closer to me as she shouted. “If you dare touch, or even think about touching her Radar, I’ll kill you and it isn’t a threat it’s a promise and I take it my promises very seriously” I gave his throat one last squeeze before I let go, watching as he gasped like a fish out of water before clambering to his feet and running out of the room.
“Are you okay?” I raised an eyebrow as I turned so that I was facing Alura, she nodded before picking up the empty bottle she must have dropped in the commotion. She looked worried and slightly ashamed of herself “Alura I promised your farther that I would look after you, and I will keep my promise, you will not be hurt ever again” the memory of that promise still freshly imprinted on my mind.
4 MONTHS BEFORE
I was woken up by a loud beeping coming from the intercom in my room; I looked up at the time to see that it was 3 am. I lifted myself up out of the bed pressing my thumb onto the scanner confirming that I have answered the call; I saw a silhouette come up onto the screen before slightly bowing my head at the members of the order. “Scar, the new tags farther has been seen at the entrance to the outside near you, he is creating chaos for the other sectors please see what he wants and rid of him as soon as possible, you have 2 hours” the intercom automatically clicked off leaving me in silence as I pulled on a jacket. I walked to the outside door, it automatically opening since the order was expecting me to leave, and I walked outside leaving the safety of the compound, looking around my surroundings letting my senses adjust to the new climate.
I spotted a shadowed figure curled up next to the compound wall approximately 7 feet away from my current location; I walked towards the figure with confidence but also an element of caution. “Sir, what is your business here?” I questioned as I was close enough to the figure for him to hear me. He raised his head a pained expression on his face as I noticed he was clutching his chest “Alura my daughter, I need to make sure she is safe” he gasped the pain obviously too much for him to cope with.
I kneeled down on the floor next to him; he grasped my hand in his squeezing as if it somehow helped his physical condition. “Alura is fine, she is under my care” I stated coldly trying to remove my hand from his grip, not liking the physical contact. “Please I’m not going to last much longer, I just want to make sure my baby girl is safe, please promise me you’ll look after her, promise me!” I started to panic at how frantic the man before me was getting, I had never seen anyone with this type of emotion before. “I promise! I’ll look after her, she will not be harmed as long as she is with me” I stated truthfully, as his hand slipped from my grip, his body falling against the wall of the compound.
I listened carefully unable to hear a heartbeat; I pressed my fingers into his neck to check for a pulse but finding none. I let out a sigh as I looked over the man in front of me; he couldn’t have been any older than 40, he looks malnourished and underweight. His skin slightly discoloured, and the whites of his eyes bloodshot and cloudy. He had obviously been through a lot all to get to his daughter and make sure she was okay, and I admired that he had shown real strength and that was something to be proud of.
