Chapter Two
My eyes flick open. "Oh my gosh. You're ok," I hear Luke's voice. I turn my head and find my best friend standing next to a boy. The boy looked to be about twenty years old. He followed Luke over to the unfamiliar bed I am laying in. Luke pushes my brown bangs out of my face. I raise up and feel a pain go through my side. I groan, but insist on sitting up. The blonde headed boy opens his mouth to speak but no sound comes out. I look up at the boy and notice his beautiful ocean blue eyes.
Luke sits down on the bed next to me. "I'm Niall. I saw your friend here carrying you and a huge bag full of food and supplies. I decided to help. Do you want some water or something?" The boy finally says pausing briefly throughout his words. I nod and he exits the room.
"Thanks by the way," I say, looking up to Luke. He smiles sympathetically and gets up. He paces around the room like a guard until Niall returns followed by four other boys. They looked to be the same age as Niall only slightly older.
Niall hands me the cup of water he had gotten me. "These are the boys. They were worried about you. This ones Harry, that ones Zayn, he's Liam, and that's Louis," he says pointing to each of the boys. The first, Harry, was tall and had dark brown curls that sat nicely on his head. The second, Zayn, was a shorter, but older looking boy with black hair. His eyes were a deep brown. Liam, the third that was introduced, was very tall and very muscular (not that the others weren't). He seemed sweet and his smile warmed the room. Louis, the last in line, was about the same height as Zayn and had an adorable sense of style. He wore red suspenders with a blue striped shirt and red pants.
The boys attack me with questions like "Do you have any ideas what's happening?" and "How long do you think we have?" The curly headed Harry shushed all of the boys and reminded them of my asthma attack. My thoughts sprang back into action, remembering the events of the...previous day? I wasn't sure as to how long I had been out.
"No, it's ok. I'm alright," I say, still not sure where I am. Around are wooden walls that remind me of a cabin. The bed is probably a queen size. The small window to the left of me is covered with navy blue curtains. I realize that while I was caught up with these five boys, Luke had left.
I swing my legs over the edge of the bed and wade through the many people in the small room. "Luke?" I walk by the bathroom and hear a loud pound. I try to open the door but it's locked and I can't get in. "Luke, let me in. Please," I say. I know it is him because he has always had a short temper. He will get mad over the tiniest things. And besides all of the others are in the bedroom. Silence comes from the room. My back slides down the door and I sit with my knees hugged close to my chest.
Niall comes out of the room and sees me sitting on the floor. He walks over and sits next to me. "He in there?" he asks. I answer with a nod. His bright blue eyes beam into mine and I feel like I've known him my whole life. He smiles and I return the gesture. I lean my head over onto his shoulder. I think he's surprised by my actions, but he doesn't seem to mind.
"How bad is it? Out there?" I finally ask, breaking the silence. I feel his head turn and he doesn't answer with words, but with silence. Deathly quiet. It answers perfectly. Terrible is what that means. Awful. We're cursed. Doomed.
