(f/n) POV
I jolt awake. Dried tears stained my face.
Heh? Another nightmare about the fire?
I got up and went to wash my face in the nearby river.
It's been, what, like 2 years since then? After that, I decided not to get attached, and by doing that I move from place to place, never staying for longer than a month or two. I've been living alone since, moving from place to place and I rarely talk to people now. It feels like I've been on my own for so long I've almost forgotten what it's like to have consistent company. But I can't bear the pain again......heh.....pathetic isn't it.
I splashed my face with the cool water I stared at my reflection in the disturbed surface of the moonlit water. I've changed so much since that day. But what for? What am I doing with my life? Yeah sure I travel to experience "life" and "culture", but why is that supposed to be meaningful when it just makes me feel like I don't fit in anywhere? What is my calling? What do I find to be the most meaningful in life?
Love. The most meaningful thing that made me feel....real.
The one thing that I have known to make me whole, has been stole from me.
I cupped my face with my hands and sighed into my palms. What am I supposed to be doing? Certainly not this.....
My deep thoughts were suddenly interrupted by rustling in the bushes nearby. I spun around and unsheathed my sword.
"Who's there?! Answer me!" I shouted in a threatening tone.
All I heard was a dark menacing chuckle. Then I heard whispering, of around 3 or 4 men.
"It's her?"
"It's her alright. Turquoise hair."
"Then we can't be wrong."
I snickered and flipped my blue-green hair. "I can hear you~" I taunted. There was a short pause.
"Let's get this over and done with then."
Immediately all 4 men jumped out to attack me from behind various bushes. Having anticipated where each one was, it was easy to dodge all 4 sudden surprise attacks. The sound of metal clashing against metal rung throughout the forest grounds. Having (seriously) underestimated me they stood back to recalculate their plan. Now that they've stepped into the moonlight, I could see that they were all bandits, but I couldn't tell from their uniforms who sent them.
"What business do you have with me? Who sent you?" I demanded, eyes narrowing on the all of them one by one.
"We'll tell ya if you beat us all."
"Oooh a challenge....I accept."
With that I charge.
*Timeskip~*
Bloodied and beaten, the bandits were tied tightly to four separate trees by yours truly. I also removed all weapons from them and threw them in the river before they woke up. I obviously won the fight but did sustain several cuts, nothing major or lethal though. Heh.....I've been on my own for years....do you seriously think I'd still be here if I didn't sharpen my fighting skills? Slowly, they gained consciousness one by one. I held my sword to one of their throats. "Talk. Now." They spilt everything in hope I'd show mercy. What cowards. I only learnt one thing though, and that was the one after me was Yan Kumji. They, too, have no idea why I was wanted by him. Tsk, what a waste of time. They're not even the big dogs. I grabbed my stuff and started walking away.
"W-wait miss! Ar-aren't you going to untie us?!?!" The desperation leaking through the voice of one of the guys who just tried to kidnap me.
"Your information wasn't valuable enough to me for me to deem you worthy of release." I said in a deadpan tone.
"B-but miss! Show some mercy!"
I stopped in my tracks and shot them the fakest smile I could muster. "I'm sure if you can scream loud enough someone will come rescue you." With that, I turned on my heel and strutted away. Honestly, if they wiggled enough, they should be able to get out. It's not that tightly bound. But I truly was not in the mood to deal with the underlings of Yan Kumji.
I was lost in my thoughts as I wandered the forest aimlessly, without a specific destination in mind. Why does Kumji want me? What do I even have that he wants? He took everything from me, but I'm stronger now. But still, doesn't he have enough already? What more could he need that I can provide? Whatever it is I have, is definitely special. I only came into indirect contact with Yan Kumji and that was 8 years ago. And I'm quite sure I'm no longer in the Earth tribe region too....... Damn, maybe he's mistaken. I definitely do not have anything worth remembering for years upon years. And besides, what is this about my turquoise hair? Yeah I know its pretty but what's the big deal about it....seriously.....
What is going on?
