Days in the past, but--

Tim practically feels the bullet burrow itself into Jay's side.

It's this same feeling that allows him to track down Jay with their one-sided mind-link, and Tim is eternally grateful that he decided to do it with Jay instead of someone else.

It's also what saves both of their lives, because the image that keeps repeating itself over and over again in Jay's head is Alex with a gun, Alex holding it up to Jay, Alex pulling the trigger, oh god I don't want to die, not like this, help me, oh god someone--

Tim jolts; those weren't his thoughts. Jay's must be bleeding through.

Jay must also literally be bleeding through from the pain shooting (fuck, these unintentional PUNS) through Tim's head. He has to be close. How the hell is he going to get to Jay without encountering Alex?

Jay, where is Alex? he presses into his friend's head (christ, Jay, please be alive) and, despite never doing that before, he somehow gets a reply.

Jay, you wonderful little shit, thank you, Tim silently thinks as he receives a fuzzy image of Alex pounding on a door to the room Jay locked himself in.

Hurts, Tim hears echo in his head from Jay, and he picks up the pace. Really, really hurts--

Hang on, Tim practically wails towards Jay, hang on, I'm coming.
