Chapter 1

I heard the thumping of feet getting louder and closer. I looked everywhere for me to hide, but all I saw were trees, trees, and more trees! I walked a little bit farther and glanced to my left, then my right and saw a stream. I followed it until I was on a cliff. Hearing the footsteps getting closer I decided to look behind me and saw him. He stared at me with those ruby red eyes like he could see deep inside of me, my mind, my heart, my soul. "Come back over here now sweetheart. You wont get hurt I promise you. You can have anything you want as long as you come with us, with me", he said with a sinister smile on his face. Looking back at the cliff I thought about what could happen if I jumped. Would I survive, or would I just plummet to my death? Either way I think it's a win-lose situation for the both of us. I get a way out and he gets nothing. Glancing at him and looking back at the cliff I decided what I should do and it's definitely not going with him. With one last look at him, I back up a little and jump off of the cliff. The last thing I heard were the words of a grown man's promise and thundering before the waves swallowed me whole.

I wasn't in control of my body, but for that I'm glad because otherwise I wouldn't of made it on shore. All I remember is pushing myself onto the bed of sand and stumbling across the rocks and into the woods. Seeing something in the distance, pushing myself even further than what I could do on my own and falling on a hard, cold floor before blocking out. The images that filled my head afterwards were so vivid, but I guess not vivid enough because I don't remember any of them. Something told me in my gut and my heart that those images were important though.

Waking up to the distant sound of chirping; I gazed around and took in my surroundings. Rocks, moist from the water probably residing inside the walls. I stood up and stretched taking in a deep breath of fresh air and thought to myself; New day, fresh start. Walking out of the cave, I stood and listened for some noise, a noise I wasn't even aware I wanted to hear; civilization. I started walking towards that noise, but then something stopped me. It felt as if I was going through a vortex or a flashback then I heard it. A voice. A voice I somehow remember, from my dream, that was so vivid it felt like he were right next to me whispering in my ear. I could feel his warm breath breathing down my neck talking to me in a raspy voice. Then another voice joins him, a voice so calm that to me it sounded like waves kissing the shore line, or the wind whispering through the trees. A girl -- no, a woman's voice. Whispering to him that it should be awakening in me soon. I felt her turn to me, lean in close to my ear. I could smell her sweet peppermint breath as she whispered in my ear. "Hurry home, sweet child. We miss you" I felt her smile before she turned away and I could hear both of them walking away before I woke up. My vision was pitch black before it started fading away. Looking around the woods, I noticed tiny wolf prints and started to follow them. Crossing over logs and tripping on roots, I finally found the small wolf. A beautiful brown and white wolf, limping trying to get around to safety. Walking closer to get a good look I saw a small trail of blood coming from it. Moving toward the bush I realized it wanted protection from other animals that might get it. Stepping forward with my arms outward, it started to whimper. Looking at me through saddened eyes, begging me to help it. Moving slower towards it, I finally pick it up and cradled it to my chest and walked off, searching for its parents. Giving up I started out for the cave again and put the pup inside while it was sleeping and walked off to go get sticks to start a fire. When I got back the pup was awake watching me start the fire. The red-orange flame burned bright lighting up the cave a little making it clearer to see. I curled up next to it while the pup snuggled into me, warming up that part of my stomach from its fur, we both fell into a dreamless sleep.
