3 months later...
"Hey, Elle!"
"How you doing, Elle?"
"Good morning, Miss Waters."
It's April, already. It's in the middle of spring, too. Flowers blooming everywhere and the warm air around making everyone wear less clothes than in winter. School was the same, even as a senior this year. It didn't made her feel older, apparently.
She walked through the halls to get to her locker. Teachers and old friends greeting her nearby. She smiled at them, her black hair tied in a bun. She was dressed in a white blouse and jean skirt with sandals.
She dodged sweaty-smelling people to her locker. She spot her best friend, Katey, leaning on her locker. Katey was waving to some people as her own eyes spotted her.
"Hey, Ellie! How was your weekend? Wait till you hear about this, there was a....." Katey drawled on as her mind went to other things as she opened her locker. Katey didn't seem to mind. She could drawl on and on and wouldn't noticed she wasn't paying attention.
At the corner of her eye, she spotted a familiar blue white letterman jacket. She craned her neck to get a more bigger look of him, Katey by her side not noticing even once, but he passed just as quickly as he came. She pouted as she closed her locker. "Come on, Katey. Let's go to class." She interrupted Katey in her speech of 'THE CAT SO CUTE I JUST KENNNNOTT', or so it seems.
She couldn't get her mind of him. He was like a new type of pizza she couldn't get enough of. She found out who he was in just one week, courtesy of Katey.
His name was Carter Henley. A baseball player, he played pitcher mostly. He was always wearing a letterman jacket, weather it was his team's or his own. The girls deemed him as cute and boyfriend-material and the boys all seem to be cool with him. He didn't seem to have a specific best friend. Many of his friends were in the baseball team. He wasn't in her class 3A, that's why she didn't knew him. And because she didn't bother to go to any school games. Katey says he's a really friendly and nice guy. He doesn't participate in anything other than baseball, really.
"How come you don't know about Carter, though? And why are you suddenly asking anyway?" Katey had given her a weird look that time.
"Uh.....just because."
She still look suspicious, though but she dropped it. "Remember that girl, Rebecca Granger?" When she nodded, Katey continued. "She's infatuated with him." When she opened her mouth, Katey continued. "By infatuated, I mean very, very, VERY DEEPLY in love."
There was some kind of sting that came on her chest.
Rebecca Granger was not mean, no but she was really sweet. She was a nice 'airhead' as people call it. A little slow, but a very nice girl. She was pretty, too, with short curly orange hair and big brown eyes. She was once paired in a project with Rebecca, actually and she can confirm she's a nice girl. She was also the school's sweetheart.
The sting seems to grow even more.
Apparently, from Katey, Rebecca had been saved by him when she'd almost been hit with a ball during one of the baseball team's practices. She was too close to the field and he was walking in her direction when he pulled her arm to avoid the incoming ball flying towards her. After that, she instantly fell in love with her 'hero' and declared that he would be her future husband.
She chuckled bitterly, He seems to playing 'Hero' everywhere he goes.
Her thoughts stopped as she came to her class, 3A. Rowdy kids chit-chat here and there. And speak of the devil, Rebecca Granger was in the middle of a crowd of boys, fawning over her.
