Exogenesis - The Poem

This story starts with heroine young,

Her world in deep despair

For it in need of desperate hope

And humans resign from care

The Streets littered with filth and trash

Oh I cannot escape

Now it is time to take control

Or this breath seals our fate

Who are we to treat the Earth

Like it will last forever

For one thing we know for sure

It's leaving now or never

When are we leaving this forsaken world

The human population cry

Because they are beginning to understand

It's either leave or die

When is of course important knowledge

But we must think instead

Of Where are we going

That's going to rest our head

Oh why have we treated the world this way

Is the main question on our minds

But its too late to ask that now

So we must leave our world behind,

The first ship leaves at tomorrow at noon

And not a moment past

This ship is for those who choose our course

Our heroine is at its mast

The next day ship sets on its course

Past stars and planets many

Wades through toxic clouds

Which very nearly kills me

Then we breach the planets outer sphere

And hope that we are able

To survive on such an alien planet

And put food on our table

For many weeks we fight our fears

On this planet unfamiliar

Finding technology to send our codes

Back to the Earth's people

Knowing it's our duty of course

To keep our race alive

Our final wish was of course

To make our people thrive

This heroine begins to realise

That of course it's true

That keeping this new world alive

Is all up to me and you

So let us start our world over

Now that we know the truth

That the reason why the old Earth Died

Was not caring, that's the truth

So our heroine vows to make a change

And this time to be good

Maybe this world shall now be our home

Now the truth is understood

So our story finishes about heroine bold

Whose new world is now called home

Her memories though on Earth remain

Where they forever roam.
