Mia never had a 'family'. She grew up alone with her mother in the city. She never had a father or grandparents to look up to while growing up. Mia always wondered why but she would never had the nerve to ask why.So it remained a question up till now.
Her mother managed to get a job as a cleaner in a cafeteria. It was a small paying job, but her mother worked hard enough to support the two of them.
They scrimped and saved on everything but they were happy as they had each other.
Just the two of them.
However, when Mia started schooling, their lives became harder. Way harder.
Everything became more expensive.
As a result, her mum had to work harder. With her mum working up to 12 hours a day, Mia was alone most of the time..
At school, Mia never had anyone she could call a true friend. Sure she had classmates and people she could chat with. But there wasn't anyone she could actually trust. She knew the people in her school looked down on her and talked behind her back.
Most of the time, at school or outside school, Mia kept to herself. Mia started feeling lonely. She had no one to talk to. No one at all.
